Stylus RT for sale

Sad times, but with the expanding family the Stylus has really only been a race car this year so I think its time to sell and go back to a 2+2 fun car. :( It's been a good 5 years with the Stylus... you lovely people on the ClubStylus forum get first dibs. 2006 Stylus RT on a Q plate. Asking £6000....

Re: Boot release

Got to say, I quite like the pair of aerocatches that Alec installed... nothing to go wrong 8)

Re: Ultimate Understeer. :/

Ah yes, Ben said about your ruined panhard rod  Maybe the rear springs are just a bit soft for two fully grown men? Got any video of you driving? The thing I've found that had the biggest effect on getting rid of the understeer was being strict on getting it into 2nd gear and never accelerating...

Re: Proud owner of new car

Seconded for the GRP shell type seats - mine are the kitbitsdirect ones - they get you nice and low in the car and are surprisingly comfortable on road. The catch is you'll need to edge them and make sure the lap belts don't rub on the sides for the IVA so choose your model carefully. Also, the harn...

Re: Speedo Sensor

Mine's on a bracket on the diff nose. It got covered in crud, corroded and stopped working once; though that's probably a risk wherever you mount it under the car.

Re: Fitting new seats

Sounds like someone's put an undertray on underneath the tub... weird! They should just bolt to the floor of the tub which is single skinned. I just switched from foam padded cobras to GRP shells and there's little difference in comfort as the new seats fit snugly and are reclined so my weight is ev...

Standard roll hoop

Is there any interest in my standard Stylus road roll hoop? Have done the measuring up now that I have my new seats in and with GRP shells it provides decent protection for me (5'8", fairly long torso) without a helmet (head is over 50mm below the bar and there's a clear line between the top of...

Been there, done that :D I wonder if they do it on purpose, putting random ends in random boxes!

IOWCC 2016 Season

Goal for the season: Podium finish at an event. I'll be amazed if I get a win with the competition as it is right now. ROUND 1 - VENTNOR BOTANIC GARDEN 12th of 43 drivers - not the best start to the season. Man flu and the most demanding course on the calendar. New for this year was a 180 turn in t...

Re: Getting ready for a speed event

No no - proper brackets not U-bolts; that would be crazy! The way I read it you're fine to make up a U bracket fitted (probably welded, maybe bolted if regs allow) to the chassis to accept the end of the backstay and bolt through the lot provided the double-shear requirements are met. Drawing ...

Re: Getting ready for a speed event

Yep, that surround is what I meant by hood coaming. The vague plan is to fit some U brackets to the chassis rails inside the boot, cut some round holes in the top of the coaming which will let straight backstays slide through and bolt the legs to the U brackets. Just have to do some measuring up and...

Re: Getting ready for a speed event

Cheers Rob, always good to have some real world experience. Going to have a natter with some of the club members who go to Gurston Down at the event this Sunday. Figured as much with the spacers but it would be a bummer to do all that work and have someone pick up on it. Got all the specs from the b...

Getting ready for a speed event

The IOWCC are planning an away day this year - probably going to be a sprint or hillclimb by popular vote. An ideal opportunity to do something I'd been planning on trying with some friends of mixed experience. The idea being to encourage members to try a new form of motorsport 8) So, there's a bit ...

Good info - thanks Rob. Might be a combination of both moving the column down at a smaller wheel, I reckon
