Stylus or Fury wanted (donor vehicle up to 1982)

I am looking to buy a Stylus or (preferably) a Fury. The catch is that it (EDIT: or rather it's donor vehicle, as shown on the V5) needs to have been first registered no later than 1992. Would that rule out the Stylus? Reason for the catch is that I am in Germany and in order to stand a fair chance of getting any kit car through inspection over here, it would need to have been first registered before the CoCs came out.

I won't say that money is no object (it always is), but I'm not looking for a bargain but for a car that has been exceptionally well built. And I understand that such as car has an appropriate price.

Please no bike-engined cars. These would probably give the inspectors over here a coronary; I wouldn't want to risk that.

I'm not sure either a Stylus or Fury was made by Jeremy Phillips before that date . Striker and maybe Phoenix yes . Try asking this question on the JPSC forum where all JP's designed cars are catered for and wide knowledge of the early years .

Thanks for the quick response. You may be right: The earliest mention I could find of a Fury was 1991, so I guess that's when they were introduced. Actually, a very early car might still work for me, as there doesn't seem to be a definite date when the CoCs were introduced. Some say 1990, others claim 1992 would still be okay.

And thanks too for pointing out the JPSC forum. I'll see if anyone over there has something to offer.

mines not for sale, BUT although sva'd in 1999, the v5 says first registered in 1978 - so surely if you can find one with a v5 that says something similar - you'll be ok? I suppose as long as it isn't a q reg and its based on a mkii escort you should be fine??

That might be the way to go about it. For my understanding, not being too familiar with car registrations in the UK: The V5 is the registration document for the car, and in your case it carries the date of first registration of the donor vehicle, right? Would that then require the use of only one donor vehicle? How common is that?

yeh its date of first registration. doesn't use a lot of the donor tbh. only needed uprights, steering rack, rear axle and brakes. That was enough for age related plate and a V5 that gave a date of first registration of 1978!

To race my car I had to show it could have been built before 31st December 1986, I did have a lot of documents on the age of Sylvas, but from memory the first stryker was 84, the first Mk1V stryker, was september 1986, this became the clubman/phoenix, I think the Fury first fury was around 92, the phoenic was then reintroduced around 99 when my chassie was made.

I have edited the topic and my first post in the thread. I now know that as long as in the V5 of a Stylus or Fury it says something to the effect of the donor vehicle having been first registered no later than 1982, it should be possible for me to put the car on the road over here.

Hopefully that makes my search a little easier. Any offers or hints to cars that might be for sale are much appreciated.
