New Tank

Finally got round to getting a new tank made up so I can go injection in the future.

Made my MK Engineering (http://www.mkengineering.co.uk/) and all done from my crappy drawings/original tank so not as big as it could have been but that's not an issue, should hold the same as the original. Uses the original sender and has a few baffles inside too.

So I have a original tank for sale if anyone needs one. In good nick just no sender.

Just wish I could afford a TIG and have the skill to weld like this.....

Nice job Rob 8) --- the return would normally go into the top though to avoid air bubbles or warming of fuel , at least that's the theory :)

I know. But there are reasons to the location. One is there is very little room above the tank to put a return. It sits too close to the boot floor.

When I go injected I'll use the 12mm output and the 6mm will be the return, until then I can save the hassle of loads of reducers/leaks by just using the 6mm feed for my current setup and blocking of the 12mm.

The fuel isn't going to get very warm as it'll spend very little time in the engine bay. Loads of 7 types even have a remote swirl pot sat in the engine bay with 2 litres of fuel in there. That would get far warmer than my setup.

I totally agree with your swirlpot statement which is exactly why I built my tank with the dropped sump plus very large exit fuel pipe . Not many people agreed with me at the time though --- a few of my competitors said I'd end up changing it to swirl pot and extra pump because it wouldn't work. The key to making it work is --- a very large fuel supply pipe (10mm - copper in my case) plus the little sump underneath to stop fuel surging away from the exit pipe PLUS foam filling OR baffles. The large supply pipe allows a greater volume available WHEREAS most think pressure is everything --- it's NOT :wink:
