Zetec Alignment and sump clearance

Just popping my Zetec in for the first time to fabricate the engine mounts and I thought I'd try and line the crank pulley up with the centre of the chassis spar in front of it. But I cant get it much closer than this without the box hitting the tunnel. I'm sure my Xflow was this far out. Any thoughts? Or are they all like that?

Also, I have a Scholar Sump and it is sticking out under the chassis by 50mm (I have about a fingers gap between the bonnet and the top of the cam cover so I can't put it up any higher, again is this normal?

Basically , if you line the centre of the tunnell equally left/right and extend that line to the front chassis -- it'll be almost pointing to the passenger inner rocker top pivot . Correct as designed -- it helps balance the driver/engine weights.
A type 9 gearbox mounted correctly with bellhousing will miss the tunnell sides by approx'ly 3 to 5mm's a side ----- in fact I tapped the driver's side lid edge over with a copper hammer where it comes out of the tunnell for safe clearance . My raceline sump extends beyond the chassis rails around 35/40mm's . Also the oil filler leaves a mark on the inside of the flipfront , on the reflective gold lining , so it is tight.

Thats ok then, got it sat a bit better and as close to the bonnet as I can. Much happier with it now.

Mine isn't - but mine gets a bit further from a "standard" chassis every day
