Does anyone have hi-spec calipers (prefer billet 4) fitted to the front of their stylus? If so could I ask if you have or could take some pictures of the mounting brackets for me please? I have them on my car but I'm not entirely happy with the brackets currently being used.

I picked up some yellow stuff pads by the way. I'm just renewing the soft seals in all the calipers at the moment but I'll let you know how I get on with them.

At the moment my calipers are mounted on the outside (wheel side) of the lugs on the upright but as that surface isn't machined the calipers aren't aligned correctly. They work fine until the pads wear down and then they lose a lot of power. Bit of a bodge really... it's strong but not exactly great.

As an aside, if I want to get new uprights is that a particularly easy thing to acquire? I know that they are cut down escort items but is it simply a case of getting some escort uprights, cutting them to length and somehow mounting the top balljoint in? Are there any details on this online anywhere as I don't have anything like a build manual. I'm quite happy doing it but I'm a lot more familiar with cortina stuff on westfield than these escort items.

Re - the calipers not fitting straight. Even with the Wilwoods I had originally , washers thinish were needed to align things. Regarding the Escort uprights there's a choice . Triumph Spitfire uprights(very lightweight)went on SSC's last cars built , the Escorts were cut off at around 5 inches from memory then Mini or more recently MGF joints screwed into a weldedin threaded collar. Third choice would be Siltech Racing's billet ally uprights that can be made to take any top/bottom joints -- that's what I have but it's all pennies aye Talk it over with MattD/SSC Ltd , he's got all the options on suspension parts now , although I still do specials very occasionally.

Antnicuk decided to fit the discs outboard next to the wheel rather than behind the hub which is why none of it looks like anyone else's. I can make this work for now but will address this over the winter when I strip the car down.
