A Sprint venue in 2012

Odiham RAF Chinook airbase in Hampshire is likely to be on several championship's events list next year . There is a S&CMC , FDMC joint trial event for a sprint and autotest on the 3rd Sept 2011 . Part of our entry fee will be for the RAFBF charity .
I've entered this one seeing as Matt nudged me into submission  He's had quite a lot to do with the actual course preparations etc . Should be some long fast straights plus wiggly bits , all totally unknown to everybody

So far my class has 4 of us , a Metro 6R4 , Chevette 3.9lt , Fiesta 2lt plus my Stylus . I'm assuming these guys are all modified and on slicks or they'd be in ' modified production ' .

Ned , you can only come in as pit crew or marshalling . Being a live RAF Chinook base , ID is required( photo driving licence or passport )
I could do with help actually , Simon's ill so it's just Stuart pitting now . Entry is via crash gate 4 half way up the B3349 hill passing the air field BUT only from the North direction ie no crossing in front of the South bound traffic !!! Go past the gate and turn round further on then return from the North to enter .

If you can help send me a PM for arrangements/timing , phone.

Or maybe just bring the Stylus to an entry level club event & have a go at an AutoSOLO (for which I'm the Timekeeper) ... ?
No Helmet, no safety gear, & no roll bar requirements... just £35 entry fee & £10 to join FDMC for the rest of the year.

Many thanks Ned/Phil for supporting today , good job as it happened otherwise Stuart would have had trouble giving me push starts on his own then walking the half mile back to the paddock slot

I reckon if suggestions for 2012 are asked for , mine will be why can't the paddock be in front of the start line :?:

The course was potentially very fast but I had trouble remembering the courses many left and right turns , especially approached at high speed without much visual clue as to where it went next. After practice I could recall most of it but got the very last left right kink wrong twice so only got two runs to get it right and improve my very slow 152 sec's first practice run. On the second to last run I managed a 144 plus sec's then the final run was 143.14sec's which got me 2nd in class behind the 6R4 on slicks . He's not beaten me before but today was his  with a 140 sec run from memory --------- not that my memory is up to much today

Not sure if my attempt to attach a pic from my wife's laptop onto the forum will work but here goes
What you should see is my car around a tight left hander at the Chinook Sprint taken by Mark Simms at Odiham on Sept 3rd :P

Bingo it worked  I had to get this on here from my PC emailed to my wife's laptop , pictures etc :?: (still no browser on my PC and can't get pic's from the iphone onto here :? )
Just to show I was trying , in spite of not knowing where the hell I was going  -------- this is my poor excuse for coming 2nd

FDMC have been notified that there won't be a space in Odiham Car Club's activities at Odiham in 2012 :( A real shame , it was a nice venue . Probably cos hardly any of their members compete so the club would rather use any slots for trackdays
