Against my better judgement after entering the Prescott hillclimb RETRO RIDES , several years back , I've applied for an entry for RETRO RIDES Goodwood day . Two days actually but I'm only interested in the Saturday on track day . Daily ticket in advance is £10 , £12 on the gate and the on track entry is £45 . For this you get three runs with 5 cars on track at a few seconds interval , like the old sprint format but not sure yet how many laps I'll get . Could be one run with 3 laps or 3 runs with one lap :?: I won't know till the 28th March whether I have an entry.
I had a right go at the clerk of the course at Prescott , for misrepresenting the format and cars allowed on the entry form . I'd been told my STYLUS non road going sprint car would be fine and I could where my helmet , plus any passenger too. On the starting grid , having waited in line behind dozens of cars , the clerk told me to remove my helmet , then asked me was my car road going , told him no which was ok on the entry advice . Got told I couldn't run and to take my car off to the paddock . Raised merry hell as you can imagine , then finally told I could run with the modified demonstration cars. They were all wearing helmets but still told I couldn't wear mine :!: Once ready to run , my grand daughter passengering with helmet , as were the other demo cars , I drew up to the startline and the clerk said my grand daughter must remove her helmet :!: It was very busy and he was getting stroppy , so I stood my ground and said she's wearing it period and I'm driving up the hill ----------------- he said OK then.
So I'm a little apprehensive as to whether I'll get an entry , after berating the organisers afterwards about them admitting me but the clerk of the course saying no , having travelled from BUCKS to PRESCOTT . A few of you also entered without incident , so we'll just see if they remember me and the trouble that occurred :?:

I'll be at Goodwood on two other dates this year , just for fun , not competition . March 31st for the LANCIA MOTOR CLUB's trackday , short on entries so a few of us were invited to play with their Lancia's . Then after the RETRO Goodwood on May 19th I'll be at the CLASSIC ALFA Goodwood trackday on June 16th . All these events allow passengers so if anyone fancies a ride in a classic Alfa give me a shout.

I'm in car group 8 which means my first session of 2 laps will be approximately 2-30pm then 3-30pm then 4-30pm . Depends on any incidents but hopefully none . I'll be in the paddock bays that run all along the hedge in front of the main three paddocks , while the morning group cars are running , then after lunch I move into the collecting area where refuelling and sound test is done .

A great day out on track yesterday at Goodwood Retrorides . Caught every car they ran me behind , so was moved infront after each run . Finally ended up in front of my group for each session and was never caught within the 2 lap sessions. Two that should have kept me behind were a highly modified PEUGEOT 1.9GTI and an even more modified TWR MAZDA RX7 screamer but caught both at St Mary's in the first lap of the session. Met with Neville Powell who brought David Hall's Firenza race car to take around for demonstration

I did this again last year but with my Stylus . This website wasn't working properly last May so couldn't post it up here . Anyway , after last year's entry in my Alfa GTAm rep , they put me out front of my group of five cars , even though I wasn't driving the same car. That mean't immediately behind me was a Sierra Cosworth slicks and wings circuit car , engine modified too. He didn't catch me after the two laps , couldn't see him in my mirror anywhere on track . Behind him were three other quick cars too . I had plenty of opportunity to get quicklaps in being out first but actually it wasn't as much fun , last year in the Alfa being last out , I had terrific fun catching all four one at a time .
I've entered again this September , it's already been cancelled twice due to covid-19 but could easily be cancelled again . I may not be able to go though , as two weeks ago I was camera clocked at 125mph along our A41 dual carriageway , having a little dice with a Merc sports two seater , that had been right up my bumper for a few miles in traffic . Obviously I've returned the required reply/form from Thames Valley police , however , at that speed I'm expecting a ban and hefty fine :(

Having spoken to a Met police friend , that's highly unlikely . He thinks a ban plus hefty fine and points , the ban could be really long :(
