I worked out that with a 3.5 diff and 15" wheels redline 9k and a 0.87 final drive in sixth top speed was over 200mph aero allowing, which is too quick IMO, i reckon if your going to run an RX a 3.9 will do, unless i'm getting old
IIRC it'll pull 60 in first with that setup.

the rx8 has a higher red line than the turbo charged earlier models, the engine i build will probably run out of puff at about 7500 maybe 8 if i'm lucky, although they can be reved there is no point as you are making less power.
I'm thinking to go for the 3.7. but i suppose it will be a case of suck it and see.
I am wondering weather to start again with the wiring. I need to stick a battery in it and see what works etc. For some reason the steering column switches dont fix to the column they are glued to the dash and just sit over the column, is this normal?. i think the interior will be the last thing to be sorted.

A bit of an update, I couldnt get the Grp 4 hubs to fit the stock escort stub, they will only fit rs2000 stubs. Shame as they were a really nice bit of kit. I sent them back and ordered a stock pair of escort hubs with new bearings. I fitted the big brake kit that i got cheap, was suprisingly easy.
Spent this afternoon in my cousins workshop. I lathed down the escort hub by about 4 mm so it fitted inside the Fiesta disc bell. I then fitten longer metric studs. New bearings etc and then set about fitting the 4pot Hi Spec callipers. I used the fiesta calliper bracket that came with the kit, a tiny bit of machining required and it was a perfect fit. I now have the new hubs fitted to the Stub with new bearings, 285 mm discs and near new 4 pot callipers and pads. The off set will only have changed by the thicknes of the bell which is about 5 mm now the disc on outboard and not behind the hub. The wheels i have came fromt the same fiesta so they should fit the assembly ok. I am hoping to get the whole lot fitted tomorrow so at least the front will be rolling.
Next will be stripping the atlas axle, grinding off all the unwanted brackets and grafting the english brackets on to it. Not looking forward to it as its a messy noisy job and i always get burnt
