So given the main use for it will be with two people on board, plus luggage and spares, with a reasonably heavy engine up front, what would you recon on springs then? I do intend to use an anti-roll bar upfront.

Assuming a weight per person of 12 st Fuel, spares luggage and your intended ''endurance rally '' plans ------- 200 lbs rear ---- 225 lbs front with stiff ' bar ' and don't set the ride height too low (about 125 mm / 140 mm ) nor too high on tyre pressures(about 20 psi max less on good tarmac) Set the wedge at 30mm with car empty. Hopefully when it's fullly loaded before you sit in , it'll be around 15 to 20 mm . I'd take a pair of 250 lbs springs with you then if calculations don't suit you can put them up front and switch the 225 's to the rear.

It'd be a good plan to take it out loaded with passenger in this country with this set up before you actually go . Calculations are useful but experience is the final judge plus I don't know what your driving style is  Springs are cheap compared to any other suspension item so it's a good thing to have some spares of different lbs . Personally I wouldn't venture into such a long distance event before thoroughly testing then fine tuning the set up for the task

upgrade 1

Post by stylussprinter »

Since the first order from Matt&Pete , I've upgraded the spec' to include alloy hex link rods already threaded both ends plus all socket head SS fasteners. This will make the cost now £168-50p plus I'm also negotiating a coating cost . Will advise £-ASAP

NOTE :!:

Kits will now be zinc / colour coated --- Total cost for kit now £178-50p They wont be ready this week though  . The colour is a faint gold / silver , visually :D

Delivery ARB's

Post by stylussprinter »

Two kits have gone now and the others are promised from the coating people by Friday 14th Dec' so should be able to post or ' you ' collect on that day or the Monday . If you use cheque payment , could you send it 'now' then I'll send your ' kit ' out the moment I collect from the coaters. Post 1st class , cost £8.50 . Pete & Matt got theirs in 24 hrs which was surprising BUT carriers are just too expensive & guaranteed delivery/value etc is £14-00p

Already organising the next batch :)

What will it fit ?

Post by stylussprinter »

Had a little run out today to Kent . Having looked already at a KIT CAR WORKSHOP Fury , a week or so ago , I could see the ARB kit would easily fit a FURY & today realised it will also fit the FURY MENACE . A little lateral thinking saw 3 routes to fitting it , finally agreeing on ' the easiest & tidiest ' route .
Fury's have two bottom shock mounting positions . Early ones are the same as a Stylus and later ones are 70mm closer together --- all it takes is an L bracket for one and a FLAT bar for the later one -- very easy. Menace's are short of space just where it's needed but another position to mount the ' bar ' wasn't too difficult to arrive at . What surprised me was that the racers don't run antirolbars ---- as far as C & B are aware  It will be interesting to see what difference there is in lap times with a ' bar ' fitted under racing conditions

(Obviously the set-up will need adjusting to suit running the ARB from their previous race set-up  )

Next batch ARB's

Post by stylussprinter »

Just making the next batch of ' KITS ' up . Brackets are of lighter gauge material which has proven itself on track so there are no concerns over strength plus it saves a ' little ' weight
I'm now able to offer a discount of 6% :) for orders of (3) or more kits OR 13% :D for orders of (10) or more kits .
Here's an opportunity for you to get together and save a little £ PLUS help me to organise manufacturing more effectively.
This is open to any ' SYLVA ' derived car that uses inboard rocker front suspension as it can be adapted to suit , using 2 different brackets for the ' bar ' mounting 8)

To contact me if not a Stylus owner , simply register on this forum to send me a PM

ARB kit expanding

Post by stylussprinter »

Just confirmed to supply a ' kit ' to Fishers for a ' M.E.N.A.C.E ' race car ready for the 2008 season. Obviously it needed to be attached elsewhere than the Stylus triangular tubes but not too big a deal. The car is very light so the ' bar ' is only 13mm and the car is to be professionally set up to suit. 8)
