80hp at 60% throttle. o.k'ish, but I've forked out quite a bit for the spec of the engine. A Westfield has the only other engine at this spec but running Jenvey45's instead of my bike TB (46mm butterfly) and smaller exhaust primaries 1.5" instead of my 1.75". This engine made 237bhp and 180ft/lb of torque on Northamptons rollers. I'm hoping for just a little more. mike

Wow. Perhaps your cams are very wild, & not ready to start work at the lower revs?

I hope so. Troy's answer of 'o.k.' to my question 'how did it perform' was a little underwhelming.

Mike , I wouldn't put too much credance on N M Sport's rollers ----- mine came out at 157bhp after calculating the transmission loss to get a flywheel bhp . FRANKLY , I consider Paul Dunnels dyno of my engine before fitting , showing 243bhp at 8300rpm a more likely figure , particularly with the way it now performs. (not having a dry sump the rev-cut is set to 7750rpm which reduces it to 231bhp)
I just love the Stylus but she keeps swallowing £££ !

Troy at NMS praised Dunnell as an engine builder but did add that he thought that many engine builders tend to exaggerate outputs.
but what do I know?

I'm hoping that I can get close to that feeling of acceleration in the 300bhp pilbeam I sprinted at Curborough in '99. Or maybe just enough to properly shock Tanya!

Hi Mike,

I'm just down the road from Northampton Motorsport and was thinking of putting my car on the rollers to see if they could sort out the idling issue, it won't keep running at less than 3000rpm (or could be 1500rpm as the tacho and laptop are disagreeing :D ). Its running a 2ltr Zetec with an OMEX ecu and standard injectors. Would you recommend Northampton Motorsport? Cheers Pete

I was asked by Simon Armstrong, the bloke that supplied the bits, to take it to NHMS. It's only half mapped, but so far so good.

A quick search of Blatchat and the Westfield forums shows that both NHMS and Emerald in Norfolk are the places that get the vote of confidence.

I would definitely agree on EMERALD , he's an absolute wiz and very sound figures  Another ' wiz ' is REDLINE at Court Industrial Est near IVER , around the M25 --- an old but very clever guy .

Getting this thread back-on-track - its Liphook meet this Thursday evening.

I won't be there myself, as I'll be working down at the Goodwood Revivial this weekend.
