First event for me is the 19th April --- looking forward to trying out the 13'' wheels/tyres laptime wise BUT leaving at 5-00am doesn't excite me any more though -- ugh

Stuart will be with me but not till 9-00pm or 10-00pm the evening before , also a bit concerned at leaving the trailered Stylus in the road -- takes a lot of space.

Just received the regs and there's just two of us in sports libre ---- the other one is Lee Bailey in the Radical SR3 , so very little chance of a win

Couldn't possibly beat the Radical SR3/two drivers or Matt Carter's PR6 doing 81 secs BUT did surprise myself , eventually managing a 93.27 secs best , starting at 96 secs. The new wheel/tyre combo loses me 10mph at the top end but it was still quicker than my 2013 best at Goodwood. Unforunately sound was an issue measured at 106 db's around the circuit sensors
------- presumably it is my lower gearing due to these wheels/tyres which sees me hitting the 8000rpm rev cut most of the way round
I had one big '' OFF '' at Lavant on the second apex where I spun in 4th gear trying to be quicker plus lower rev's re-- the sound issue. No damage but the inside looks like grass mowings have dropped from the sky
Another problem to be solved
At least they didn't send me home or disqualify my times , too few entrants so a 20 minute gap before further runs was sufficient to let me carry on.
GOODWOOD lap times.
2012 93.4 2013 94.56 & 94.18 --- new 13'' wheels/tyres 2014 93.27 (not bad going 10mph less topend)
Forgot to say that Adam Wilkins of COMPLETE KIT CAR mag turned up , as did the Silman brothers . Very handy to help Stuart push the Stylus around from paddock to pitlane entry before starting her up. ------ otherwise you have about 6 stopstarts before the greenlight lets you off

The full results arrived today and I was 12th overall from 64 entries including double drivers , even nicer , it seems I beat one of the single seaters , well two actually(Dallara F3) but that one retired. The Jedi , obviously not in my class , was 2 secs slower than me on it's best run.

I have bought and fitted what PTR EXHAUSTS call a decibel killer , having looked at various types for the purpose. The problem in my case was that the exit of mine at 3 ins diameter turns immediately at almost 90 degrees the moment it exits the silencer. All the db's devices have different methods of attachment plus need to protrude 6 to 10 ins into a staight perforated pipe.
I bought this one because the complete device is made of perforated pipe of different diameters ie. a smaller inner pipe that leaves 10mm's between the tailpipe and the perf tube itself --- that's then welded onto a 76mm diameter outer perf tube that slides over the tailpipe 10mm --- it's then drilled and riveted onto the tailpipe.
Because it's all perf tube , I was able to cut/bend it to go round corners ie. 90 degree exit pipe
Can't put photos up here though , as my photo resize ability seems to have disappeared since a computor repair guy sorted the PC after total loss of everything
We'll have to wait till Goodwood on 26th May before knowing whether it's done the job ------------ and NOT lost power or caused overheating
Matt's got pics of it so it may just appear by majic

The next event after May 26th at GOODWOOD will be 26th JULY at CASTLE COMBE , not on my ACSMC sprint championship list but 3 of us have been selected (or rather volunteered ourselves) for a team event which will be sponsored by the ACSMC/FDMC to the tune of 60% paid off the entry cost of £115
So it will cost us £46 each
It's called the Interassociation team event ie. between all area associations like ASWMC ACSMC etc etc.
Jeff Wiltshire is driver 1 plus team captain (not sure what that envolves
) -- Phoenix + concord engine
I am driver 2 --- Stylus + 231bhp
Tim Simpson is driver 3 --- Honda S2000 + bhp
All in different classes so haven't a clue at this stage how it's to be scored .
I've still got the worry of whether or not mine will get passed the 101db's circuit sensors at Goodwood -- we'll see if my little device works

There are a few gaps on this thread (ACSMC Speed Champ'p 2014) but are covered on the individual event pages. However , today is the ACSMC awards ceremony held at BROOKLANDS Museum and I'm off to receive the Sports Libre Champ'p award . Looks a cold but sunny day so maybe we'll have a look around the motor museum afterwards . It'll be the 7th or 8th time but is a great show of cars
Simon B is collecting me in his new MAZDA , so he can have a look at my Alfa GTAm replica before we go
