This is just a quick post to gauge interest and to potentially save me using ebay (and paying their fees).

After four and a half years I'm going to be selling my rx7 engined Stylus. I just don't have the time to put in to it any more... it's an incredible track car but a new job has drastically cut down the time I can spend playing with it.

This car was built by Antinuck (Tony) a couple of years before I bought it and used it for track days and days out in the sun. I've been pretty much doing the same thing. A lot of money and time has been spent on this car in the first place and also by myself getting it to the state it's in now and maintaining it. The short version of the spec (will elaborate later if any interest) is...

Engine and gearbox from a FC rx7 with a garrett t4 bearing turbo. It has a sierra cosworth radiator with twin fans, a separate oil cooler and a charge cooler. You will not have any problems with this car getting hot on track.
Rear axle is a mini-atlas with quaife semi floating half shafts and a limited slip diff
Chassis had been strengthened to accommodate the power
Full cage
Bucket seats with five point harness in driver's side and four point in the passenger side
Apexi engine management system with in car controller
Engine kill switch fitted
Sprint timing strut supplied but car has never been used for sprinting except for Gurston hill climb school. Always meant to, time is always an issue.

The engine had been rebuilt when I first got the car but suffered from poor starting that was diagnosed to low compression. I had the engine rebuilt by Carl Hayward or Hayward Rotary. Can has built three rotary engines for me now and they are of the highest quality. The warranty has expired but the car has only a few thousand miles on it since the rebuild (mainly track use after 1000 miles running in) and I'll be able to provide a fresh compression test print out that's being done this week. While the engine was being rebuilt we switched to an Apexi engine management system that has been far better than what was in there before and has proved faultless.

The front suspension arms have been replaced with a pair of rose jointed arms built by stylusprinter.

The car was corner weighted and set up just under two years ago which transformed the handling. The car weighs pretty much 800Kgs wet which is higher than most Stylus but the car does make 400bhp and is glued to the road so you're not going to be hanging around. The tyres are 888s in good condition. There are a number of spare wheel sets that you can have if you like.

The car is currently setup for Castle Combe so is actually pretty good for road use at the moment although it's all relative.

I am reluctant to sell this car as it's one of those that I'm never going to find the equal of again without spending an awful lot more money. It's incredibly fast making about 400bhp on the current setup running about 0.8 to 1 bar. You could get much more out of this engine but I'd advise getting used to this first. I have no figures for you on acceleration or top speed but the only thing I've been in that accelerates harder are litre superbikes. The handling is very neutral assuming you're respecting the power. Even though it's a turbo the power is very linear, absolutely nothing like other turbo cars I've driven. I hit 135mph at Castle Combe and still had another gear. You will have fun in this car.

I would suggest that this car is much more track oriented than road oriented. The body work does show signs of hard and fast use but if you like the attention you could use this on sunny days to go out and play. It's well mannered on the road in terms of the handling unless you start to hit bumpy b-roads and then it'll be harder work.

The car will come with a fresh mot and I'm looking for £10,900 for this car which is an extraordinary amount of performance for the money. The trailer (brian james minno) is available for sale and is in very good condition with good tyres and a new spare... I will not sell this without the car unless the car sells first and I won't be giving it away with the car.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Regards,

Mark

Good luck with your sale Mark , it's going to interest a competitor I'd say , especially if they've already driven a Stylus but not with a nice set up and 400bhp on light boost . Needs experience for a ' road ' driver though :P

Thanks very much. I still mean to go sprinting but perhaps I was a little ambitious with the amount of time I had to spare ;)

I do have another track car ready to go and could go sprinting in that next year possibly... always have to look on the positive side. This is a more road oriented rx8 with a ported engine and improved suspension. The fact that it has a roof means I can use it everyday so will get more use out of it than the stylus although it still has an edge that some people don't like in their daily drivers.

I think you're right... it will hopefully appeal to competitors. In the right hands it can be very very quick.

Yes, experience needed on the road or it will be one ;)

MOT acquired and compression test shows a very healthy ported rotary engine. A test drive reveals that the car is still breathtakingly fast (I'd forgotten quite how fast). Relatively expensive for a stylus but you won't find anything else quite this exciting for the money. There is only one ;)
