Andy Hill
Zetec 1.8 engine with Slark head, cams, Weber Alpha system.
March 2001 - Everything has been going well
although I am held up by the lack of a gearbox from BGH. Until I
have that I can't install the engine, do the wiring or spray the
car!
You can see from the pictures that the vents are in. They are a
copy of the Works Austin Healey 3000 vents, for those old enough
to remember. I purchased a set of actual vents from the Austin
healey specialist but they were so shabby I decided to make them
myself. If only I'd known it would take 5 days!
Peter at SSC has been very helpful indeed. Also, I notice that he
has been developing the kit substantially when I compare it with
Bob Walster's car, which I think is only about a year old.
4th Jan 2001 - Well, things are happening here in Southampton. Chassis and running gear were delivered on time, just before Xmas, so allowing for family commitments I had to time to build the rolling chassis. It proved very easy, only about 20 hours work [although doing it again would probably only take 10 hours]. Everything seemed to line up well although I was horrified to see that the back axle was about 25mm to the nearside, but as the car was on trestle the triangulation of the Panhard rod did this. The brakes proved easy to connect once I'd been told the location of the fittings for the front flexi's. Everything then fell into place. The body is due next week, by which time the heater and wiper motor/rack will be in place, then it's on with the hard and slow work.
