Re: Retro fit independant rear suspension

https://www.youtube.com/user/FlyingHaggisRacing Here's a vidio of the car with the new suspension, taken from a mates 328, the 328 had a fueling problem as you will see, it nearly stops a few time, my car had a major power problem, the ECU cut out when the VTEC cut in to change the cams so I could o...

Re: Retro fit independant rear suspension

Car is still down on power due to heat soak into the injection system, vaporizing fuel, but the weekend I had the car driven by a professional driver, who declared the new irs rear end as perfect, I managed two wins even with the serious loss of power against cars that left me for dead on the handli...

Re: dash components

Are you putting the gatreg in a road car? My pheonix has a chassis especially made by JP to take a catreg/Zf box it has resulted in a footwell that is so narrow it may be unusable in a road car there is no were for the left foot so my left leg is always bent when not on the clutch, and a seat that i...

Re: Retro fit independant rear suspension

Had a bad weekend, car dynode at 410bhp at the wheels on Wednesday, but over the weekend did not finish a race due to problems with the waste gate after a few laps, did not get in a clear lap to get a best time, but it went from 18th on the grid to 4th in the first lap running with guys who can do 2...

Re: Standard wheel offset, standard damper sizes

I love the picture in the snow, reminded me of when I took my Phoenix to Norway in November 2002, to visit my son. On the subject of wheel offset be carfull about about not fouling the lower front link, my car had 14x6 J on it no problem on the road . first time on the track it riped the side wall o...

Re: Retro fit independant rear suspension

Ran the car sunday, absolutly fantastic, could not get lap times as a track day and could not get clean laps, and I was not well with alung infection, but the car is much quiker on the long fast right hand turms (3 and 10 due to the longer diff stoping me hit the rev limit) and much faster in the fa...

Re: Engine Mounts?

I run solid mounts, and an extra chassie member between the mounts, don't get a vibration problem, but then I don't run an exhaust, the manifold exits behind the front wheel. and all the hoses for rad, intercooler, and oil cooler are silocan, and stainless and very long.

Re: Retro fit independant rear suspension

OK Looking a the pictures I am not to worried about hitting the bump stops, say there is 15 mm of movement before the bump stop, that would be 30 mm at the outside of the wheel, (say) and that would be more than enought to foul the rear body, I am going to look at the car on tuesday for the day with...

Re: Retro fit independant rear suspension

Not sure how much bump or rebound there is at the moment, I will try and see the car the weekend, I believe that they have 'copied' the set up on the original silvia that donated the uprights, diff and drive shafts, yes the car does have strong springs, can't remember what at the moment as they are ...

Re: Retro fit independant rear suspension

Having just got my new smart phone synced to my computor I can post some pictures of the IRS being fitted to the Phoenix. As can been seen we still have bit of work on triangulating the structure but all is in place and the car can sit on the tyres. The rear end is from a Nissan Silvia and is used b...

Re: Just Bought a Caterham

OK thanks that's what I thought, I can only buy them in a track rod set, so I get both ends, mind I appear to have an unlimited supply at an old BL dealer in the middle of Malaysia.

Re: Just Bought a Caterham

Rob, I'm asking because my car uses the Sherpa LHT track rod as the lower link, I have bought 2 sets of Sherpa track rods so I have 2 LHT joints as spare, but I also have 2 RHT, as you know I can get things made up cheap, so I want to make new lower wishbones that take the RHT joints. I can't se any...
