I've put the engine and box in and out through the classic bonnet as a unit a few times without much trouble. You do need to either remove or restrain the front springs to stop the front rising. I'd defintately strengthen the screen surround before fitting the screen. The other thing is that as you are bonding in a rubber seal screen you need to get whoever's fitting the screen to paint a mask on the outside edge of the screen . It needs to be a good 1-2" all the way around or it will ...

Having seen (twice on the same day) what happens to a car when the propshaft lets go this is definately one part of the car you want made properly by someone who knows what they're doing.

you can buy tunable gas struts from RS I'm sure - maybe a combination of a hinge and a different strut would work.

Thats not entirely true actually- The hardtop Cobra was a rush job anyway to regain top speed down the mulsanne straight. Open top Cobras just couldnt keep up so they quickly rammed a hardtop on it. Jeremy was quite a long way off a "proper" hard top though.

It's an idea thats been floating around as long as I've had my car (1999).
