Rolling Road Session

Post by AndyL »

Finally got the Stylus back on the road this year (it’s a long story), and took it to BD Engineering at Newington for a rolling road session, along with my brother in law’s Alpine.

Would thoroughly recommend Andy at BD Engineering, initial BHP was 111, after a lot of head scratching it turned out the Xflow was not producing the compression expected and the timing was well advanced (20 degrees, verses 10 degrees norm). Looks the timing was advanced to maximise engine output from the lower compression, although the engine bores etc looked OK. After some more tweaks and the mixtures properly setting up, tappets adjusted etc, output rose to 113 BHP, with the engine feeling far more tractable.

Just got to decided what to do next – keep as is, or engine out for further investigation over the winter.

Well done. Hot weather has arrived as well, so your just in time for summer joy.

With regards to the engine. Fit a Zetec (£200ish 2nd hand, £800 new!). Almost double the power for less money than sorting your engine (possibly).
