Steering Wheel Issues

Post by Pete&Matt »

Has anyone gone through IVA/SVA with a standard mini steering wheel fitted? With one fitted, I can only just get my legs under the wheel and cannot really operate the pedals correctly. My other issue is that it obscures the warning lights! Is there any way of moving the steering coloumn up? Its on the top mounting as it is!

Depends on the mount you've made , if the column is touching the lower 25mmx 25mm dash chassis tube , that's it but if not you could make your own clamp so that it is touching that tube. You could fit a detachable steering wheel boss then fit a wheel diameter that allows view of the speedometer :?: Simply remove it to get into the car the clip back on , just a few seconds .
I just love the Stylus but she keeps swallowing £££ !

The mounts are as per the original chassis that we got from Tim. The coloumn is held between 2 uprights behind the dash, which you can adjust in height with 3 different holes. The front of the column is then in a tube with a bolt welded to it to move it up and down. All I can think to do is to lower the front tube guide down more so that it pivots the column up further. Other than that I don't see any other options.

Fit a detachable steering wheel , like I said above , of a diameter that allows your vision then simply unclip to get in the car

not allowed a detachable wheel for IVA I'm afraid! My wheel that I have for after IVA is fine, and that's what the dash was setup too!
