Brake Master Cylinder

Post by mikebunting »

My Stylus brake master cylinder has given up the ghost and I need to replace it. The car has been stood for some time and I think the cylinder is beyond simply fitting new seals. The cylinder is from a MK2 Escort (probably 1100 or 1300), it is a Girling tandem cylinder (74660038) with one port for the rear and two ports for the front brake. Unsurprisingly trying to get a new one is proving impossible but I see that there are quite a lot of new ones available for the MK2 Escort 2000 (or 1.6 RS). The porting looks the same and I wonder if anyone knows if one of these could be used as a replacement.
Many thanks
Mike

I managed to get a service kit for mine, think it was more than just seals. Found the info from one of the replys in these forums.

Thanks Kevin - not sure if my master cylinder needs more than a service kit. :(
