Introduction
Well after a rush of blood to the head on Saturday, and a short trip to Fife, i'm almost an owner of a part built Stylus RT (previously owned by Scottie). Now all i have to do is to find someone to trailer it to its new home in Hampshire
I'm bound to have many questions on the build, so i hope that i dont become a pain on this forum. My first question is does anyone know where i can get a build manual?
Is there anyone locally that i could meet up with? I'll buy the beers

Hi Kevin,
After a trip to Fife, Southampton would be a breeze .
I was thinking of getting one of these commercial firms that advertise vehicle transport to bring it down. Although the cost is quite high (£ per mile) they do offer full insurance should anything go wrong. If i were to trailer it home myself i'd also need a tow bar fitted to my car so not sure if the end cost would be any different once that is added in.

Well I've just moved to Lindford, nr Bordon if that helps.
I work in Andover & sometimes come home thru Basingstoke.
There's a sylva club meet on the third Thursday of the month in Liphook too if you like...

Congratulations and welcome.
I've just looked up on viamichelin and it's a bloody 700km (450miles?)
I know I trailored mine to Belgium from Bristol, but even that is less distance.
Here you see me in front of the 15' trailer, wich was waay too big, but the only closed one I could find to rent and at 50£ for the whole weekend not a bad deal I think.
And worst of all was the bloody snow that fell during the night over at the B&B
As you can see a whole adventure, maybe renting a small truck (lorrie?) if you can lift it in is a better option? Next time I will be using a smaller open trailer as it catches less sidewind as I had some scary moments coming back with it.

Sounds as though you've got yourself a good deal . I'm in Aston Clinton which is around 70 miles from you . Happy to meet.Looks like 800 ish miles = £400 + if it was my truck/trailer Cheaper to hire and drive yourself

Hi all,
Got the car back to Basingstoke with no issues , can highly recommend a company called Elite in West Yorkshire for transport if required.
Since then been suffering with a man flu so not really done that much
Definately like to get togehter with some of you guys over the coming months, definately could do with a bit of inspriation, as without a build manual not sure where to start. I tired contacting Tim at SSC via email to see if could buy a manual but i've not had an answer yet. Does anyone know is it better to call? Has anyone got a build manual i could look at, just to get a feel of where to start? Does anyone know what the standard fit live axel is?

Things to do initially (in no particular order)
Check build to date
Connect anti roll bar
Complete connection of brake hoses to front and rear
Fit handbrake
Strip and rebuild engine + fit webber kit (could be a long task...)
Fit wiring loom
Parts needed (so far):
gearbox (type9) + bellhousing
Clutch
Water pump
Alternator
Radiator + fan etc ??
Need to get proper wheels as the width of the current 'roll about' wheels causes rubbing on the top of the uprights (ok for now)
seats
Having had a long look at everything i think i got a very good deal, and really looking forward to getting started properly I've got no real idea how long its going to take, and not particularly in a big rush to complete, just want to enjoy putting it all together.

standard live axle
Hello Jason,
Glad to hear you have the car home now. The standard live axle is Escort M2 with whatever diff' happens to be in the donor. When the car was originally purchased the donor parts would have been powdercoated by the factory as part of the kit price but not necessarily supplied by SSC . Diff' can be 3.54 / 3.89 / 4.1 / 4.4 / 4.7 ? / 5.3 . The 3.89 or 4.1 is best for road use and the other lower ratio's best for track as it will lower your top end , depending on the power unit. Most people compromise with a 4.1 if only doing a little track use and 3.54 users are distance cruisers . As your body is fitted and the chassis is rolling , you don't really need the manual. I think SSC only supply it with the kit but you could ask . All other job advice can be sought from this forum for nowt if you ask the right questions.
Best plan for you is to meet up with some of us and/or drive up to SSC and chat with Tim. He'll probably remember the car and perhaps built some of it
