Just bought a shed (knowingly) - Advice/guidance/prayers
Hi, I figured Tim might have seen it before and pronounced it doesnt suprise me as the previous owner recounted a bit of a tale about taking it to a stylus experienced builder in Wales, she was less than complimentary etc... chose to ignore this, none of my business and if it was with Tim you guys all seem to value him highly!
Anyway she let the car sit for years under a tarp, didnt know what bits were what (yes, even less than I do ) and has lost most of the docs over the years... so hardly an expert. Just enough evidence to guarantee it was hers to sell.
However I would be if I had parted with lots of hard earned £ but only paid what was appropriate considering the state of it (a Mars bar and 50p then ), figure it was worth trying to save at least and gives me something cheap/reasonable/already a mess, to practice on.
If it turns out to be beyond redemption which i hope not, then; ebay as a whole or for parts - guaranteed not to lose (much) and I'll be back for a better one!
Thanks again for all the good advice on the thread and PM's. I'll anounce the verdict soon.

Dont Scrap Her !
As a maintenance engineer of 30 years it grieves me to watch the inexorable march of the 'disposable' culture. Luckily kit cars aren't in this category, surely, unless the chassis is badly distorted or rotten, she can be saved and we can help you!

Hi again....
"Could turn it into a track/racecar once SVA'd" Aha Werner... you read my mind!! Id like it to be roadlegal but not looking for a concourse tourer, a bit of track fun was always at the back of my mind
I miss racing (have a National A licence), and something like this could be a bit of a replacement adrenalin supply..... All thats presuming I can get it 'sorted' within the budget... Budget, I can hear you all

track fun?
It will be a damn sight cheaper to build it non road going then trailer it. No lights , no retrictions on build mod's , no mot , no lowering problems(lights&clearance/tyres behond arches etc.) Throw the hinges away from boot/bonnet , cut the screen off , fix the doors/one skin only etc etc etc . No tax/insurancesostylus wrote:Hi again....

Rob(& with your A licence you can go testing at Goodwood for£100 half day at 105 db's --- trackdays are 98 db's £250/day and full of idiots)

We can rebuild her...
Rob...I have considered the 'not road legal path' but have no where big enough to store trailer, dont currently have towbar, most work already identified would be required for either road or race, quite fancy using it on the occasional weekend jaunt...
Work identified (and confirmed after very informative chat with SSC Tim who does indeed know the car):
Remove body - refurb tub etc
Reposition body 'in correct location this time'
Reposition engine on new mounts - 3inches back from current location (shorter prop therefore required)
Rip out all wiring & put in complete new loom - Welcome suggestions as to best buy/fit, someone suggested Vicky Green?!?
New Dash (proper one this time)
New Guages and switches (proper ones this time)
Reposition the roll bar and mount correctly (not ideal at mo)
Refurb suspension components
Refurb/New brake components
Refit all above - new panel behind seats, install one in bulkhead (behind pedals), inside both front arches.
Thats just the stuff we know about!!
In addition I want Anti roll bars fitted, external/internal MSA Cut Off switches, upgrade steering rack and a couple of other bits
Then theres the cosmetic stuff...!!
As for HWMBO - she's v understanding

Your list to do ?
I thought it would be something like that but the engine mounting point surprises me . Just where two chassis members meet at the front is a triangular piece of steel which is where the engine is intended to be mounted . What engine is it and where has it been mounted Can't imagine where 3 inches back will come from with the bellhousing tight to the tunnell/bulkhead
Rob.(You could leave the Stylus on it's trailer/in the garage if you used a Minnow )

SSC loom
Totally agree with that Pete ; any other supplier would need details of an RT or Stylus kit to be able to supply anyway PLUS Tim's looms are already wrapped apart from the long tails for cutting to length. It's all there for the asking , including numerous other items.Pete&Matt wrote:i would highly advise buying a loom from Tim. Thats the root we went down, and its very simple to fit and wire in, with no problems at all!

crimping tool ???
Bloody hell Tim's really improved the spec' of more than I had realised. Anyone buying into his new module sales approach is getting terrific value for money. I bought my own crimper
