Quiet week on the board....
.....so what have you guys been up to stylus wise?
Over the last couple of week I have been:
Removing the runners from my seats to lower the seating position by about 1 1/2 inches, it makes a nice difference. I still need to drill a second set of holes so I can move the drivers seat forward so Amy can drive it.
Bought and fitted a fire extinguisher as I'm paranoid about how quick a glass car can burn!
Fitted new brake pads (M1144's), they make a real difference, so much so that I've had to stiffen the front shocks a couple of clicks due to "bobbing" under really hard braking…. Probably means they weren't set right to start with.
Fitted new water temp sender, so that the gauge reads accurately.
Bought some "cat crap" anti mist for my helmet (and biking goggles), it works pretty well, decided that it would be needed for Llandow (can't wait).
Met up with Phil (Cerberus) to talk cars etc….

quiet on this board
Yes , it's been pretty quiet hasn't it but I've been looking regularly. Matt and I plus wives went to the FDMC (Farnborough district motor club) dinner/dance on Saturday night. Really good do , nice meal and good music from the DJ . Opportunity for the girls to dress up which they did and for us to don the '' Black tie '' . Evidence on camera proves we actually danced Regarding what we're all up to ----------- I'm busy with work at the moment but as soon as a gap appears my zetec's coming out for some loving care and the addition of throttle bodies . Matt's just waiting the chance to fit some goodies from SSC but like me can't get to it yet. Might be a little late in 2007 getting to compete due to upgrades but will be ready for ABINGDON CARNIVAL 2 day event in JUNE hopefully. Then I'll be testing at Goodwood before the GURSTON DOWN hillclimb on 15th July. Llandow come on The Abingdon event is a charity so £15 of the entry fee goes to an ARMY care home as the course belongs to the MOD. Anyone can enter this event with a non race national B licence so get cracking now if you fancy it. There are 2 courses and all cars get a crack at both. One course in the morning the the other in the afternoon. It's like two sprints in one day at £90 for the two Then the next day if you camp over is the rally to watch which is very good spectator value. Beer tent and barbecue in the evening
Rob.

Fitted new fuel tank.
Fitted new springs to trailer.
New Cambelt.
Drove up & down the drive.
Plugged lap top in, lambda sensor not working.
Discovered why body rubs on rear arches - springs to soft by far at rear. This also must be the reason why it jars me going over bumps.
Sent E mail to Tim about suspension upgrades.
Looking forward to next weekend.

Still pumbing in the fuel system, nearly done now, ECU is still at Weber(so much for a 7 day turn around ) having the Lambda circuit removed and should be back next week i have finished fabricating the exhaust( i hope it works ), made a complete f***k up of the battery tray so i will try again, i have purchased a set of 16"magnesium wheels weighng in at 5.5kgs each, they are 3kgs lighter per wheel than the old black ones, now its just the Wilwoods and alloy hubs and that should save my about 20-22kgs on unsprung weight .
And i also need to cut a hole in my bonnet, so if anybody close to me has any fibreglass knowledge PM me.
Roll on Llandow
Phil

build motivation ?
The best motivation I found , apart from --- I want it finished ---- was a nice cheap little fan heater in the shed I worked right through the winter months and enjoyed it. Some evenings , I didn't go to bed till 1-00 or 2-00 o'clock in the morning
YES , I know I'm bonkers but was just itching to get it done and if in the middle of a task that was going well , just didn't want to stop
Rob(having said that ; I'm not so keen now to fiddle with it at silly hours now it's built)

i'm spending my time off this week fixing my rear diff!
after the original escort diff giving up the ghost i've decided to put a quaife atb diff in there and a 4.4:1 ratio crownwheel and pinion.
when all the parts had arrived however, the threads on the brand new crownwheel were not in the right place and would not fit the diff so its had to go back and a new one made. apparently a bad batch.
after that it'll be a new gearbox for me i think just in time for the spring when i get back from working in Oman for a month!
i'll try and organise a gloucester/bristol meet then too!
