That's a good question - i think so there. They're off a atlas axle but i can measure up the mounting holes if people want - they look bigger than the escort stuff i've seen so maybe improve braking a bit.

Right i'm pretty sure they're 9" drums but they're different to the ones that go on an escorts i guess this is because of the axle. i think an escort runs an english axle and the bigger engine crapi runs the atlas. Whether these would do as an upgrade i'm unsure i suspect it depends on the bolt pattern onto the axle and whether the deth of the halfshafts from bearings to mating face will be too small.

Darn complicated these simple things!

9 ''

Post by stylussprinter »

Well mine are 9 inch on my English axle and I know 8's and 9's are interchangable but wasn't sure that 9's were from Capri's . I assumed they were an upgrade from an RS2000. I'd like them Anton but if they turn out to be different fitting wise someone else can have them for their Atlas axle at any time.

we have 9 inch drums on the back and they were off a 1600 capri. The 1600 & 1800's had an English axle on the capri i think! they bolted straight onto our english axle without any problems at all!

On a slightlly different tack, if anyone is having difficulty getting spare parts for the escort brakes I beleive that the Sierra items will fit with no bother.

i had no problems getting hold of the bits for the 9" brakes from a local motor factor. the 7" van brakes which i originally had however is a different story!
