I think the expression LOL is generally over used on forums, but that really did make me chuckle!stylussprinter wrote:Then stick a plough on the horse and make some use of it RobCerberus wrote:se7ensport wrote:doesn't sound like hard labour, get the wife to do it!

I am a liar, after mucho thought i have purchased a set of Wilwood 310mm discs with superlite calipers so it should stop now

The brakes arrived today and they are rather large, can't fit them yet though as rally design have a problem with stock on one of the parts i ordered so hopefully christmas will come next week

I'm a bit worried about you guys going for huge braking power aren't they supposed to slow you down I've had the same set of pads on my car since 2005 must be doing something wrong

147mm
They are exactly what I have on the sprint car , solids too BUT with the addition of the 'god' like HAWK Black Only on very tight circuits , point and squirt , do I ever need their full potential and even then they can lock if I'm just leaving it that bit too late. The sprint guys with 320bhp and 257bhp Westy's who beat me in the champ'p also used 147mm solids BUT with HAWK Black pads One of them pulls 160mph along the Lavant straight at Goodwood or so he tells mePete&Matt wrote:you dont need big brakes! the cars are so light that even standard mk2 escort discs on the front are more than adequate for road use!

My decision to fit large brakes comes from when i was karting which at only 120kgs was light i think BHP per tonne was 630 so it was quick, i had Anderson works brakes on it, 6 inch discs up front with 4 pot calipers and on the rear was a 7 inch disc with a 6 pot caliper i could out brake by a good 5-10 metres people with a different set up, now it doesn't sound a lot but at 120-140 mph and a braking zone of only 30-40 metres it is a hell of an advantage, but if they are too big for the stylus i will hold my hands up and recomend don't waste your money on large brakes

HANDS UP !
Fully understand the advantage , yes . The key thing you mention, is that '' 630bhp per tonne'' though --- none of us have that plus there are very few places to pull 140mph You sure will be stopping fast though mateCerberus wrote:Pete&Matt wrote:you dont need big brakes! the cars are so light that even standard mk2 escort discs on the front are more than adequate for road use!

i thought i would put up a couple of photos of the brakes and new wheels, the wheels are actually lighter than the superlite split rims by 2kgs per wheel i couldn't afford R888's though so i will have to make do with T1s 's can't wait till next weekend when i can tax it

wheels
Wondered what off set you managed to get on the ultraleggerra's Most of their choices were for front wheel drive motors when I investigated the off sets. It was basically 25 to 45 which would have had the wheels fouling the shocks/inner body plus reducing track .
