Tank(Tim had made)
Yes , it's an alloy tank holding just 2.5 gallons as the car never goes on the road and when competing still only got 2 gallons at the most put in , to save weight. The main reason for changing though was the need for a larger fuel pipe and return as the engine's now injected so why fiddle about with the old steel one . This tank has provision for pump/filter to be bolted underneath the tank where a ' cup ' sized bowl extends down and has the large exit pipe. No swirl pot , just straight up to the injectors . Paul Dunnell said even the racing westies don't run swirl pots but the tank must be tall/narrow with foam and large exit plus 8mm pipe to the engine bay.Causes a problem connecting to the 6mm pump and fuel rail but I'll sort that
Hopefully be ready for Llandow Rob.

HINGES
Yes , you're right but there are just so many jobs associated with this change to TB's , some not strictly neccessary but easier once the engine's out , that I'm not searching for more , simply dying to get the job done so's I can drive the bloody thing Having stuck my neck out with the green Stylus as work was quiet then work jumps all over me in a rash Good for business but no good for recreation It's 2 years now since any serious competition apart from a couple last year plus one or two test days to keep me in touch with the car In 2005 I entered 15 events from 31 , other years around 12 so it gets expensive plus earns you NO BROWNEY points

Change to TBs
I didn't expect so many other little jobs that came with the swap a bit na-ive of me really, but it's done now and what ever lump go's in at the end of the year i know at least the fuel system is ready, i take it Frances reads your posts then .
mine gets taxed sunday(on-line) and i will weigh her sometime next week, i was hoping for well under 600kgs but after talking to a few people i will be lucky to acheive 600kgs me and Alex will probably have a run out mid week as long as i can get some miles on it before, you are right you must not let the other half know the ? otherwise you will die
Phil
ps: can the rozzers still do you for failure to display a tax disc even if you do it on-line otherwise i will lose out on 5 days tax:?:
pps a BIG thankyou to Alex for taking me out in his car, twas my first ride in a stylus with a bit of power and it only took 9 months.

Googled it and the failure to display keeps coming up so you may have to use the beer mapCerberus wrote:

Lucky sod being that close to run on public roads, I'm still rubbing down the aero bubble gel coat and going on holiday Saturday

Re: Change to TBs
It still needs paint, but that can wait as i can spend that money on a anti roll bar before Llandowhearbear wrote:Googled it and the failure to display keeps coming up so you may have to use the beer mapCerberus wrote:

I'll get a receipt off of the on-line tax application thingy and run the risk after all it will be taxed, it will probably be pee-ing down anyway and by the time it stops the disc will be here.

Clutch bits/bobs
The hydraulic 3 part clutch came today plus spacer to mill off but with the wrong blo-----dy cap head bolts Seeing as I couldn't work after it just pissed down around 3-00pm , I thought I'd get on with the car -- no chance At least I managed to get prepared to put the clutch together when the right bolts arrive (1/2 inch longer would do ) by getting the bits lined up on the shaft so I could get a hole drilled at the top/rear bell housing for the bleed pipe to exit .(it's too tight to bend 90 degrees and exit through existing cable clutch hole) The supply pipe will easily exit though the cable hole. Removed the exhaust manifold and silencer ready to get it re-made longer/larger diameter and hopefully it will then pass scrutineering without fibbing Ideally , it needs to be 7 inch diam' and 28.75 inches long which I can just squeeze in but cutting a little more f/glass

Hyd' clutch
Decided against bringing the supply pipe out through the cable hole . Thought it looked neater drilling another hole in the bellhousing opposite where it exits the slave cylinder. Bought some longer caphead bolts locally and got my friend at LINTON DESIGN & MANUFACTURE in Aylesbury to machine the 12.7mm spacer back to 12mm . They have been developing a 2lt V8 all billet made in house since RADICAL left them with it after asking them to design it/build it etc , so carried on with it themselves and have had enquiries for 40 units from USA and others ---- me for one , as a test bed ------ can't understand why they declined well not exactly but wanted 20 grand to put the development engine in my Stylus then sort the prob's as and when Cheap I spose really for 420bhp and similar ft/lbs from a 2lt V8 weighing 70 kgs I can dream It really is a beautiful peice of engineering , stunning to look at. The only billet alloy engine I've ever seen other than this one is a BUGATTI One day we will be reading about them
Too awkward on my own getting the gearbox mount onto it's chassis plate while guiding prop' in as well so didn't attempt engine/box together At least the box is in and clutch bled through also adjusted clutch stop so the slave piston doesn't drop off the end of the shaft

Billet engine
There is another one Rob, i posted about it a while ago http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topi ... %2Bmelling
slightly heavier though at 95kgs i think but it is cheaper at 15k
Phil
ps actually there are two http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topi ... %2Bmelling
now this would be dangerous
