Hi All,
I'm new here, I have just bought a Stylus Classic with the RT rear wings grafted on it. Its basically a chassis and shell although it has been registered and was running a Cosworth set up.
I am slowly learning about these cars but will have lots of questions.
Initially i a need to get it back to a rolling chassis. It came with just stub axles but i have ordered new hubs and brakes for the front. I was given the english axle that was in it but the diff was destroyed by the 300 plus HP of the cosworth.
The idea of the previous owner was to put the slightly wider Atlas axle from a capri as it now has slightly wider rear arches.
I found on ebay a guy who makes all the required parts to convert a locost to IRS using sierra parts. I wondered if anyone had tried this or if there are any other options for the rear end. Welding new brackets to an Atlas and bolting that in would be the easiest option.
Does anyone know of a capri axel for sale?
I will be fitting a Rotary engine and gearbox in it with around 300-350 bhp so need something capable at the back end, preferably with LSD.
One last thing, can anyone send me a prts list of where to get all the donor parts from, I need a headlight cover and rear lense. Also, the headlights on the cars in the club stylus main page seem to have a twin set up with covers, are these available?

I think your car is the one from Paul Mauodis, am I correct? It has some big holes in the front end for cooling or am I mistaken?
Maybe it's worth to call Quaife as they have heavy duty half shafts for the english axle aswell as their LSD diff, though I don't know how much Torque/BHP it can handle then.
As for the parts, best bet is Tim from SSC, but as you might of read in the other posts, he's recovering right now, so it might take a while to get him on the phone.
Donor parts differ a bit, it started with the escort mk2 but at some point the sierra came into the picture. But as you have a live axle rear end, I guess it's based on escort mk2 (front and rear end and steering rack). Ball joint types and some other stuff can be found on the clubstylus.be website.

I have had rotaries for many years, the last few have all had over 400 FWBHP. There is quite a large choice of ECU's which control fueling and timing, the apexi Power FC is the easiest but it uses the cars stock looms. There are some higher end ones which are a lot more money and do a lot of things i dont need, like traction control, datalogging and launch control etc. A cheap basic one which i will probably go for is a Microtec, the only reason is that comes with a loom that you make up so i dont need any of the wiring from the stock car.
I also need some seats if anyone can help or advise.

The English "live axle" was the original design. Later came the DeDion setup wich used the modified sierra rear end, but this setup is not used anymore. When the RT first saw the daylight I think it was using a Capri live axle (german type i guess?) wich is a little wider then the escort axle. And now you have 2 options i think, either live axle or IRS, and the IRS is again based on the sierra rear end, but modified to IRS. So IRS is a possibility to your car as I guess it's only a matter of welding. But might be more then that, best call Tim for that one.
But the lightest option is still the english live axle. But with 300+ bhp in mind I guess weight is not an issue
Even if it hits 700kg it will still be near 500bhp/tonne
I'll stick to my 150-200bhp/tonne as my fastest car ever is a 75bhp/tonne tintop

I've got a lovely set of seats for sale at the moment, as new all in black, they are light and very comfy and supportive (i'm asking £200 for the pair)- seats are very subjective and it depends on what you are looking for, if money is no object and your not planning on much road milage tillet carbon racing seats are very cool.

Its ok but doesn't look as nice as your RX-7. where do you get all your bits from?

i'm getting a power fc for my skyline. i know a lot of people with rotary engines with big power using them and also a few evo drivers too!

I have had rx7's for years, got a shed and garage load of bits. I basically always look out for parts on the forums or ebay or any of the tuners. I do all the work myself though which is the bit i enjoy.

i have just got back from picking up my capri atlas axle complete with an LSD, these are getting quite rare now and are fecthing good money so i was very happy with the bargain i got. It means i can have a disc conversion aswell,
The only issue will be that it has 3.09 cw & p which is very low for a rotary engine and gearbox. I will grind all the brackets off and replicate the english brackets onto it and see how it goes, if i dont like it its fairly easy and cheap to change them and there is loads of choice.
The main thing i wanted was an LSD. All the rx7's i have had have been fitted with an LSD so i think i would miss it.

I do miss not having an LSD but its on my shopping list(ATB) just make sure the plated diff in the Atlas is set up properly as the Stylus weighs nowt.

A Newbie to this forum with a question or two plus some info
The name is Rossco, from South Australia. Trying to build the only Stylus in this country. First time to reply to a forum, so here's hoping this all goes OK!
Have been reading for several weeks, gleaning much interesting info --- thanks guys, & particularly, thanks to Rob, his info is "worth it's weight in gold"!
There are notes elsewhere re chassis numbers & compiling a list. OK I thought, will add mine ! Cannot do as I cannot find it !! Did not see it anywhere on the chassis during the build & it is not on the original Invoice I received from Peter Powell.
Invoice number is 1863 dated 18-05-01
Can Tim, Rob or anyone track that down ? As mentioned before, the number will be required for Registration !!
Did buy an Escort for a donor vehicle, a European Gia version with a 2 litre Pinto engine. Before I started stripping it, found that it was designed to run on leaded petrol & as such, would not pass the Australian Design Rules.
So then bought a front cut from a Nissan S13 with a CA18DET engine & 5 speed Box. Many hundreds of hours later over too many years, the chassis is modified, the engine & g/box is fitted, Turbo is hi-flowed, dump pipe is tossed for a nicely rounded 3" pipe system, original Intercooler is tossed for a much larger free flow front mount version complete with larger Aluminium pipes, plus custom radiator on new front support bracket. Tossed the old "sideways V model" support bracket. MG Miget fuel tanks are not obtainable in Oz, & are much too small anyway, so designed & had built a new 10 gallon Aluminium tank with a Nissan S32 hi pressure pump from a 3 litre car. Has been riding around the shed on a set of Speedy 15"x6.5" 5spoke wheels shod on worn out 195-50x15 tyres. These just to roll it around on, till the day comes that it goes in for registration checking.
Elsewhere, there was some info/requests on G/Box ratios & Diff Ratios. Will try to find them & post my Nissan info for your interest !!!
