windscreen wipers

Post by alecmartin19 »

Having decided to go for a full screen on my car, obviously i will need wipers to pass the sva test.

Can anyone tell me which wiper arms to use or at least how long they are and also the length of the wiper blade its self.

Cheers!

They're all '' mini '' parts ---- motor/drive tube/arms/blades . Drivers side does a neat job but the passenger side is a compromise due to the wrap round nature of the Elan screen , I just bent the end 3 inches a touch to help. I've just measured mine at 11 inches long -- arms and blades .

Thats not too bad. hopefully that will still be the waiting time.

How long did it take before it was registered with the dvla and issued with plates? I am just itching to get in and drive it in this lovely weather! 8)

I'd book it now , to make sure then work like stink to meet the date ! Once passed SVA , I had to wait a couple of weeks for the inspector to look it over at an agreed time and place , chassis no' given but still didn't get a number plate and registration for 3 more weeks ---- and that was with me chasing them for an appointment to collect it.
Pain in the arse really , jobsworths , usual crap ! SVA was the easy bit for mine.

Good luck , Rob.

Tim mentioned Triumph Spitfire wiper blades. The n/s and o/s blades are different, and you need two of the straighter ones (I think - please check first - memory has gone).

Hi Alex,
I spoke with Tim a few weeks back and he did mention the blades from the Triumph Spitfire.
I have also been given a contact for a company that specialise in Triumph parts that may be of some help, they are:-
Rimmer Brothers on 01522 568 000. They are bsed in Lincoln
Hope that helps in some small way if its not too late.
Cheers
Neil
