Not a Stylus but still a kit ....... 2

Post by MattD »

Hi All

Bit quiet on here :)

Got my Stylus going again after its Llandow problems.
Fuel Pump starvation (one of the pipe bends looked like it had been sucked flat), or crap in the fuel me thinks.
£250, two new pumps & new bullet fuel filter later, its fixed. MOTs run out, so b*****ks, can't drive it.

In between all that, my Unc's has had his project sat in the garage largely untouched for 3 yrs.
So, here' a few pics of my winter project (or two, or three winters !).

Just need to get the old boy some inspriration to get his hands dirty !
(He's 63 in Nov & would kick my ar*e if he saw that comment !!)

Seriously though... might need some help choosing a 4 barrel for a RV8 from an SD1 VDP.
What do you V8 guys run in your Stylus, any problems with it ??
The lump & box in this car has only done 170K ! Think they'll need a rebuild ??

Matt

I priced the manifold and I think it was about £600 for the manifold on its own

I run a weber/edelbrock 500cfm on mine (edelbrock 1404), with an edelbrock performer manifold, and 2" x 14" low rider air cleaner.

The carb worked just great out of the box on stock SD1 heads, cam, and tubular manifolds, but has needed richening up 1 step since I ported the heads a little. Very easy to set up, nice idle and good power.

On initial fitting I consulted RPi for jetting, and they supplied a leaner jet and needle, but this was hopeless, far too lean! Maybe it was meant for stock cast manifolds, or whatever, but the stock jetting ran just great before fettling the heads. Basically just bolt it on and go!

I think you can get a lower offenhauser manifold if bonnet clearance is an issue also, not sure how it compares performance-wise to the edelbrock.
