Yes , I have . I may see him next week to talk over things in the pipeline that I've said I'll also produce . Werner mentioned wishbones - kinked etc . It would be nice to produce a complete chassis with the latest spec' (even if he still holds the manufacturing rights) This way , he could jump right back into the ' kit ' business full time whenever the ' weather ' changes for the better in the KIT industry Meantime I get to play with something I enjoy in retirement -------- plus keeps Tim's options openPete&Matt wrote:out of intrest, has anyone spoken to Tim recently?

Thanks
Many thanks Kevin , that might be useful if you weren't in Southampton but can't see you running all up here to give me a hand. I'm quite enjoying organising things and upgrading as I go. Mainly manufacturing methods now that the first kits are sorted. Found a good ' coating company ' and busy sorting another way to make brackets . Also looking at using CDS tube as opposed to steel solid to keep the weight down . I can now get coating ZINC in satin black , although it is about 3 to 4 quid more expensive per kit. All these things I'm gradually finding answers for. Perhaps if Tim doesn't get down to see me before xmas , I could be in touch . BIKE POWER would be quicker than 4 wheels
Thanks for offering

if you do buy SSC or produce the stuff with Tim, one thing i think would be a good starting project would be the body! Those doors are a right pain in the arse and so are the hinges! im sure there has to be a better way of doing it! Fisher cars have a similar process but the hinges seem to be far simpler and easier to install!

To be honest once I'd done the 1st door the other was a doddle . Regarding Fury doors ---- talk to owners who've had their car a year or so ------ they droop a lot. My hinges , designed by P.Powell , were VERY heavy but have held up well over the last 8yrs. Tim's new LIGHTER ones are as good I think BUT much , much lighter FURY doors themselves are smaller/less access(due to higher chassis rail) and therefore lighter.Pete&Matt wrote:Rob

If I could get at my hinges --------- OUT THEY'D COME They weigh around 2.5 kgs each without the door frame
The inner door's easy enough as it's not critical because F/Glass can be trimmed off from the edge to align the outer door skin. Personally , I didn't use the strips of alloy around the edge method --- all seemed too much work for a lazy arse like me I trimmed up the inner door until a good fit was possible / gapped the shutlines with cardboard / then sikaflexed 2 inch bits along the door bottom edge + 2 inch bits along the top edge(Tim uses a glue gun ) Next day glass it all in --- job done
If you glue it as Tim does then you can glass it at the same time or day at least
Very few of us have his latest kit anyway , so can't see how much easier it is to build now
