Firstly hello.

Passed my SVA last week and the DVLA have issued me with an age related plate!

Car is now back in my garage, the twin 45's are off and I'm fitting zzr1200 carbs to the pinto engine, should all be good fun.

Hello , what a cracking job you've made of the headlights . Very nice alternative to the Porsche and plastic covered quads styles that we've all done. Are they new VW BEETLE model , BMW Mini or Merc' ??? Very nice paint job too !

Hi Rob

The lights are VW Lupo, had to remove the height adjustment which was a pain in the a$$, I ended up using nuts and cut down spindle from a MTB quick release wheel so that they could be adjusted by hand.

The paint job was carried out by a friend for a very competitive rate, I'd like to have done it myself but as you can see my garage just didn't have the space!

the manifold is from boggbros, as usual very high quality but an 8 week wait!

I'm currently having fun making an airbox for them, it looked easy initially

The Liphook meetings are a bit of a haul for you as they start at 7-30pm. then it's a drag back to home. Matt Downs often comes up to Liphook from Andover but usually in his tin top. Perhaps when you're ready we could arrange a mid point meet up come pub lunch in the day time.

when you bought the kit I thought you would do it justice, but the result is absolutely stunning.
Brilliant!! I've still got the V8 but have just bought a part built RT...hope it looks as good as yours when it is finished. ps what was wrong with the twin webbers? it's probably obvious........but....old farts don't always notice.

Thanks Paul, I'm really pleased with it. I can't believe the number of hours i've put into it (i've even had amy out helping most weekends!).

Nothing wrong with the webers I've just listed them on ebay today, but the new carbs are 48 bore as opposed to 45 + they are much more progressive, use a lot less fuel when driving around town and actually produce better bhp, rolling road session booked on the 16th to set up properly

I'd seen your V8 on pistonheads a little while ago and wondered what you were up to, still plan on a duratec for this build? how long till you get it on the road?


ps loads more planned for it as well, hoping to fit alloy sump and alarm with remote start tomorrow. Roll bar is a bit low (as you know) so I'm looking into alternatives, I figure Tim @ ssc probably does one?

Hi Alec, I've still got a template for my higher roll bar and can dig out some pics if of interest. The mounting points may be wider apart on yours as it is a later car. Do your seats travel right to the back of the passenger area, or are they restricted by the roll bar? My bar looks good and offers more protection, but means that a standard hood won't fit.....something I'm sorting out at present. Tim will have a solution for you.
Yep, hope to go for a 2.3 duratec, and am trying to make space so that the V8 can stay in the meantime, but not winning on that front at the moment, as the work is taking forever, and I want to spend spare time on the new kit - not being Bob the Builder .
