V8 Stylus wanted

Post by v8 wanted »

Stylus wanted, prefer part built V8 but would consider something already on the road, needs to be decent spec, ie. 2.0 ltr 16V car or turbo. Cash waiting following sale of westfield.

Blimey, 43mpg from a 4 litre? My 3.5 V8 only manages 27mpg at the best of times, which I think is pretty good.

Unfortunately mine's not for sale! ;-)

And sound good too!

I admit that a V8 probably won't be the quickest round a track, but they make great road cars.

There's a guy I've been in touch with to help him fit the side screens but I don't think he's registered on here , although he did say he would do for info in general ---- he'd looked at the old site run by Don Love , where almost nothing happens from one month to the next or more :?
His name is Neil Boyle and he built a Stylus with a V8 supplied to him from Neville Powell / Babybertha(on this list) Basically Neville sold him an engine which he'd not stripped to check out but said it was a good engine . Cutting a long story short , Neil needed help with it so Neville went to help him , stripped it out , only to find that it had a very high spec' head, cams etc etc . So my bet is that it will be the highest bhp and torque Stylus around / 300 ish  ---- just guessing (Neville regretted not having a peep first though -- it was a cheap engine  )
Great for Neil though

Last time i spoke to Tim i was thinking of putting one of these in mine very light 110kgs, http://www.pistonheads.com/pics/news/19 ... -eng-t.jpg he advised against it as the chassis's limit was about 300hp IIRC, although he said he could make a chassis from thicker material, so there must be a few people pushing the limits of the chassis out there.
Must try harder

One of my fellow competitors is putting a stretched 2.3 --- making a 2.5 lt Duratec with ultimately 320bhp minimum , developing upwards , into his standard chassis Westfield  he reckons it'll stand it 8) Going by that I'd say the Stylus chassis is stiffer so would stand a similar load of grunt .
The reason Tim would have advised against would probably be because he believes in the Colin Chapman approach ---- light car plus light smallish engine/power gets the job done :?:
Trackwise he's spot on but plenty of builders enjoy other things about their cars so up to a point ------------------ stick it in there
