Thinking of chopping the windscreen as it would save a lot of cash (heated windscreen+fitting+bracing+wiper+washer), a lot of weight and time. (and also a lot of swearing)
And with my length i think I would be looking straight at the top/over the window anyway.
Maybe Alec can tell me if he looks through the window or over it? He's a bit taller then me.

Windscreen off certainly saves some weight, & would simplify SVA.
When I cut the screen off, I got rid of a lot of other things that had taken time to source & fit.
All the bits you mention. Also simplified water pipes & wiring behind the dash & on the motor.
Plus sides are:-
Easy performance gain (ie less weight, less drag) - Definitely noticable.
Wind in the face motoring - good if you like it, just wear sunnies on a hot day

I also got fed up with getting blinded by either fogging up or headlights from other cars.
Down sides are:-
Nowhere to attach a hood, if it rains you get wet.
I'll get a tonneau shortly.
Also colder than a windscreen car, just the gearbox to keep you warm.
Wind in the face motoring - can be bad too.
The aeroscreen doesn't do too much, you're in the airstream.
You get bugs, wasps, stones, rain, oil, washer fluid, etc in your eyes & mouth.
(& if you're travelling at 80mph, so are they when they hit you).
Its dehydrating too - your breath & any bit of moisture (spit, tears, etc) is wisped into the airstream.
If you're actually going somewhere, wear a crash helmet.
I don't regret chopping the screen off at all. That & taking the carpet & leather seats out.
It totally changed how I percieve the car.
Makes it more of a lunatic sprinter, than a comfy touring car, which actually means I use it, instead of polish it.
