Doors

Post by Ady8077 »

Hi all

Has anyone managed to get rid of the flex in the doors

Mine shut ok if you push them in exactly the right spot, otherwise they catch on the striker

I have the same problem with mine at the moment. If I find a way of stopping the flex i'll let you know.

Cheers

Mine are doing the same I was thinking of bonding some strenghtners around where the hinge attaches to the door to stop flex. In reality where the hinge attaches needs to be at least twice as thick to give strength.

Hi

I've tried fitting a piece of steel plate inside the door but it hasn't made much differance

I think its because the top and bottom hinge can move independantly of each other, i was thinking of cutting the door frame away between the hinges and welding a cross brace between the hinges

That's a bit heavy. More weight to make them sagg , it needs to be rigid but light . I didn't fit anything inbetween , simply used washers inside plus penny washers on the cockpit side then lifted the door behond normal shutting level before bolting extremely tightly. They then hung where I wanted them to and then I fitted the striker just slightly higher than appeared correct so the door would lift and be supported in the shut position. They are sagging a little now after a 1999 build but I'm too lazy to adjust them.
