Roll bar - door hinges - front chassis frame

Post by gibbon42 »

Hi everyone, I've just started to re focus on building my Stylus for the first time since 2005 due to many distractions. Wow things have changed !!!!!!!!!

SSC no longer exists , so, is it possible to get drawings for the roll bar, door hinges, and that strange little frame that bolts onto the front of the chassis? (they are all paid for but I've no hope of getting anything from Tim now). I have a friend that can get stuff made from engineering drawings, so for any info I would be very gratefull. :D

Regards, Bob.

I wouldn't totally write off the possibility of some bits from Tim/ssc . It's never been sold (ssc) , it's just that Tim earns his living now from a better paying business . When I'm next in touch with him I'll ask what bits he may have still ok. Frame wise (up front to mount the body to?) Mine has been bent and I've straightened it and bolted it back on to design another for my own reasons . When I'm done with it you could have it to pattern from ---- no good to use because the small gauge round tube is flattened in places but ok to copy dimentions wise
Where abouts are you ---- ish :?: Rob.
I just love the Stylus but she keeps swallowing £££ !

I'm in the midlands just outside of Kidderminster. Copying your dented frame is a cracking idea, especially as I've got a mig welder in my garage :D
I'd be more than happy to buy it from you & of course cover any postage incurred.
I can be contacted on 07967770714 whenever you have the time .
With regard to Tim, I get the impression that he's had quite a rough time of it re the kit car business, & I certainly bear him no ill will at all. In fact if/when you do see him give him my sincere regards & feel free to give him my number.

Looking forward to hearing from you, many thanks,Bob.

Bob wrote above that he needs drawings & details for a Roll Bar, the Door Hinges & the Front Chassis Frame.
If he, like me, is not going racing, then I have designed a simple yet strong Roll Bar -- Not yet made, but I have a full size drawing, passed by a top South Australian Roll Bar/Roll Cage Designer/Builder. Do not know how to get it onto here as my Scanner only takes A4 size. Just thought. Can redraw it onto A4, Scan & hopefully attach.
Altho I did 2 long Replies a couple of weeks ago, Attached a Photo to each one, clicked "Submit", & they disappeared into cyberspace ??

The Front Chassis Frame. --- I have built a different design, square not tapered to a point. This is to mount the Radiator & the Intercooler & also a low mount for the flip front.
I have photos, but will attach to a separate reply !!

Door Hinges. --- Yes, I also need some drawings & details. Have a photo, thanks to Rob, of the latest design, but he can not supply measurements !!
With lots of Chassis & Body measuring I came to the conclusion that the distance, chassis/tub side that the hinge bolts onto, to the body inside, would be close to 6.5 inches.
The bolt spacing, hinge frame onto the chassis up-rights, is about 5 ins.
Can anybody substantiate these ?
Fore/aft measurement is obvious from the chassis. BUT --- the exact shape of the hinging piece that is bolted to the Door is a bit of a GUESS !!!

Please, can anybody do a drawing of that piece ?
Assuming they are mirror pieces, one would need to lay the piece on stiff paper & carefully draw around it, including the section that bolts to the Door Inner.
Then post it to Aust.

Tube sizes used, Bolt sizes & any other details ??

Thanks Ross.
