Looks damn nice.

Are you going to make the area around the lights within the plexi black like Rob did?

I'm already glad I made it a flip front. Its so much easier to get to the engine to work on it.

As for the lights and painting them black, I might use some black card to see what it looks like first.

Theres lots of things on the car I will be changing after the SVA test anyway so maybe this will be one of those changes.

Glad you like it. hopefully when its on the road, I will be able to join everyone on days out.

Cheers for now

Lovely car Alec. You must be chuffed to bits! 8) What engine / gearbox / rear suspension did you go for?
Look forward to seeing more pics. Good luck with the SVA.

I am totally chuffed to bits!

Its got a 1.8 zetec in it at the moment but i'm building my own 2 litre zetec turbo to go in next summer. I have got a type 9 box in it at the moment but that won't take the power from the new engine so i'll be looking to change that and i've got a mk 2 escort axle for the rear but again this won't be able to take the power increase so will have to be messed around with too.

Should be good fun. I'm hoping to get it on the runway at work towards the end of september/october as we have a 1/4 mile and top speed event there for all the RAF working at brize. Will be good to show off my car!

Glad you all think its nice!

Cheers

hi rob!

My car isn't actually kept on the base at the moment as I built it at my parents house and i'm still waiting for a garage on camp. Their house is just south of gloucester in a place called Dursley. If you wanted to travel that far you are more than welcome to come have a look. If thats a bit too far, when it's registered and insured i'm sure we can arrange to meet somewhere nearer but that probably won't happen until after the end of October as i'm on leave now until Oct 9th then on a course in Wolverhampton until nov 10th. If you find you are down this way before October 9th or if you wanted to travel down to have a look, give me a call on 07966 406566 or contact me on this site. I'm on here most days so will reply as quickly as I can.

I'd be more than happy!

Cheers Rob!

seeing your Stylus

Thanks Alec , have logged the number . I just thought that as the ' base ' was so close and you guys were going to have some private fun on the runway , then I could ' crash ' the party so to speak !!!

Enjoy your leave , Rob.

well i'm not sure if we are holding a runway run this year but if i can get the motorsports club to organise one for the spring i'm sure you will be able to come and have a little play. its usually open to members of the club and their guests so i'll invite you and then you are sorted really!

i'm hoping they do organise one this year though. i'd like to have a play too!

If my car gets registered and insured before october 9th would you be interested in meting up near brize then if i get myself there?

not really sure to be honest. i think they'd get a bit worried if 30 people turned up but i'm sure i could manage to talk them into 9 or 10 i expect. its just i have to make sure you are escorted all of the time so i'd have to find some mates to follow you about. i'm sure that wouldn't be a problem though. they'd love it!!

That sounds like fun. I'm normally escorted off the premises....never been escorted on the premises (nice escorts? ). 2.3 duratec engine arrives tomorrow - then the work starts.....just a chance the RT could be ready by the spring...and pigs might fly! I've found a guy in Lancing who can finish the hood on my V8 in November, and may be able to store the car for me until then, so the building work may be less rushed, which would be a relief.
