alecmartin19 wrote:well i'm not sure if we are holding a runway run this year but if i can get the motorsports club to organise one for the spring i'm sure you will be able to come and have a little play. its usually open to members of the club and their guests so i'll invite you and then you are sorted really!

i'm hoping they do organise one this year though. i'd like to have a play too!

If my car gets registered and insured before october 9th would you be interested in meting up near brize then if i get myself there?
Yes , that would be great except that the car(if I brought it)would be on the trailer , no prob's though. The other thing is that from the 4th Oct. to 14th Oct. we are taking a little break to Ripon , YORKS and then on to Chatsworth and area on the way home. So this forum will be quiet from my ramblings for a while

Definately fancy the idea of a play around the runway :P

my stylus engine build has come to a grinding halt at the starting gate for the time being. i was planning on building a 2.0 turbo zetec for it for the spring but i have decided to change my everyday car for something else so i'm trying to put everything right on that at the moment so it will sell for as much as possible, as well as trying to sort out registration for my RT.

still with the 1.8 zetec in it at the moment it goes ok and it gives me a chance to learn to drive something thats rear wheel drive as all of my other cars have been front.

don't by any chance know anyone who wants a vectra 2.5 V6 gsi do you? its a lovely car but its not fast enough for me!

Don't actually know anyone but Neville Powell might have a contact , he's a man of many parts  I know that cos Gloria (his wife ) told me

He used to build the chassis , also runs the LIPHOOK meeting group . I'll tell him you have a 2.5 v6 for sale and see if he knows anybody . Then give him your mobile if he says yes. Is that o.k. with you ??

that would be fine! just really looking forward to getting my jap beastie. hopefully before the end of the year.

looking forward to getting lots of stylus and their owners down to brize for the runway run.

if they don't organise one soon i might have to go ahead and organise it myself.

got my plates made for my car today. Thats it. i'd say finished but i don't think it will ever be completely finished. I can drive it everywhere now though. took it to DVLA today for the documents to get the plates and it rained lots. so much fun in the wet. i didn't think i'd ever go out in damp conditions but i loved it!

Big smiles!!! :D :D :D

oh yeah forgot to say Rob, i'll be bringing my stylus up to brize next wednesday afternoon to show the lads at work so if you are about, feel free to pop down with some form of identification and you can come have a look too if you like.

Not forcing you but the offer is there. i'll probably be there until about 9 that night.

lovely. I will get back to you by tuesday night just to let you know for definate either way. I need to go there as soon as possible to get some things for my course next month so i thought i'd go in my RT and kill 2 birds with one stone but i'm just waiting to have some nice number plates made for me. They are the smallest legal size allowed in the UK but they take a few days. Should be here monday so it depends on them really.

can't wait to show my car off. hope you aren't disappointed! I'm definately not! :D

Alec

Glad to hear your cars on the road, I'm literally just down the road from you in Emersons Green, I was in Dursley/Tortworth a couple of weeks ago getting married!
If you are interested in catching up for a Sunday afternoon blast or just a chat about motors let me know, its would be nice to see another stylus on the road rather than the usual 7 brigade.

Cheers

The engine was brand new from ford, I've only put 170 miles on it! I think as it’s a 1989 engine and that is been stored for the last 17 years the exhaust valve on number 2 cylinder must have been open and corroded slightly due to moisture in the air. It was only when I took it to a rolling road to get the carbs and ignition set up that it became apparent. I'm getting all the seats looked at on Monday to ensure they are lapped in fully and it should be back on the road by Tuesday. :D

hi alex!

I'd definately be up for a weekend blast or just meeting up sometime. As i was saying to Rob though, i will be quite busy on a course in wolverhampton through october so it may not be possible until after then but if a get a free weekend i will definately let you know and try to arrange something. if you are about this wednesday and fancy a trip up to brize norton i will be meeting rob there! it may be a bit far for you to travel just for a few hours but the offer is there. you will need to bring some ID with you though or you won't be let in!

Cheers for now

Alec

Alas, due to work etc and only picking the head up Tuesday I can't see myself getting there. It’s a shame as it would have been a good opportunity to catch up with both you and Rob. Will definatly have to catch up when you are free, happy to put a date in diary for a blast

Is there much going on club wise in the bristol / south west area? I'll travel for meets if there isn't anything local…

i'm not really sure to be honest. having only just got mine on the road this week, i haven't really looked into it.

I'd like for as many people from this area to organise a meet sometime. maybe even get a few of us together in the spring an use the track at castle combe for some good legal fun.

What do you think?

I'd love it but it would have to be a drive in someone else's Stylus , mine would never meet the stupid decibel limit of 98db's . When the silencer's repacked and I tell a little lie regarding maximum rev's , it'll just creep through at 105db's which is only just o.k. for sprints but 'out' for any track day. Goodwood will let me through if it's a General Test day for which you need a circuit licence or equivalent.

Worlds gone bloody mad , they want speeding drivers off the road so track days have become popular then they complain about the noise so most tuned cars have great difficulty passing the db level they now set . Even race circuits have lowered the limits . What about air displays , I suppose they'll be after them soon , can't hunt , can't wear fur coats even fishing is being targeted by so called animal rights '' people '' .
It will probably be an offence to ' fart ' soon , due to global warming !!!

Well that's got that off me chest .

Good idea to start a 'Midlands & West' group, based in Gloucester? I hope to be able to join in the fun next spring, cash the major issue at present. Anyone know of any easy banks to rob ?

Steve.

I'm very keen for a stylus meet, if its this area brilliant. Regarding combe there are usually some cheap charity track days that come along, theres a stroke action day which is usually about £50 for a full day of track action :D
