No feeling through front end

Post by Cerberus »

I have absolutely no feed back through the front of the car, at least my Peugeot 106 gives some, any ideas?

Well first I'd check the obvious things --- toe = straight ahead or very slightly in ----- camber = 1.5 neg ish ------ tyre pressures = 16 to 18 psi ------ wedge = 12 to 20 mm's ------ universal coupling onto the rack is bolted up TIGHT ------ rack mounts are TIGHT .

Then it's ---- are the shocks working/where are they set/can the adjusters be moved ok :?:

What are your spring rates -- front -- rear :?:

Have you made new bottom wishbones :?: if yes --- is there enough castor :?:
I just love the Stylus but she keeps swallowing £££ !

Toe, 0.5 in, camber is 1.5 neg, tyres 18, wedge is 18mm coupling is tight and i have solid rack mounts(alloy ones from RD)

Shocks have been back to Protech and set up(valved correctly) and the adjusters are free,

Springs are 250lbs F and four clicks from bottom and 200lbs R no clicks, now i have played with the shock settings and i am happyish with them, as for bottom arms haven't had a chance to make the new ones yet so Castor is still 3* positive.

Now as i have said there is NO feel for the road through the front wheels, small pot holes, cats eyes, the only time you know you've hit one is when the rear wheels go over them, it just feels the front wheels are like a big garden roller made of sponge.

There is anarticle in PPC (sept) where they have taken a Mini to be set up and he had all sorts of problems with feedback/torque steer etc and the upshot was that he had way too much offset on the front wheels which then affected the scrub radius and was causing his problems, It could be worth while cheking your offset and trying something different.

Well i've had a good look and have noticed the wishbones are poorly made giving different Castor on each side which is clearly visible when looking for it.
