Fitting Heat Reflective Mat

Post by CMA »

I got some heat reflective mat (tin foil type on one side) from Stonleigh as the missus keeps burning her feet on the passenger footwell end.

How is it best to fit this stuff? Is there a heat resistant glue I could use? Or is Tiger Seal/Sikaflex suitable?

I used SIKAFLEX but just in thin short lines around the edges plus a few lines in the middle. If it was going to be upside down then you'd need more lines and closer together
I just love the Stylus but she keeps swallowing £££ !

Cheers Rob, got myself some Tiger Seal and it seems to have done the trick. Never used PU stuff before but I can see a few futuer uses for it now.

Never heard of TIGER SEAL . Does it set like very firm rubber or stay a bit sticky :?: Sikaflex SETS LIKE A CAR TYRE RUBBER and doesn't let go --- expensive but does the job

You are using it on the engine side of the bulkhead/footwell :?:

Tiger Seal and Sikaflex are both polyurethane adhesive/sealants, I just searched for the cheapest online. Not much cheaper than Sikaflex but every penny counts.

Yes it sets quite firm and doesnt seem to want to let my test of 2 blocks of wood seperate but still a little eslastic. Test stuck some heat mat to a piece of ply, let it dry then hit it with a blow lamp to see how it stood up to heat. Quite impressed.

I have put it on the engine side of the footwell.
