To Quick rack or standard
I have to make a decision to either keep the quick rack on my car or change to a standard rack, the reason is a on going neck/shoulder/arm issue that has already stopped my archery and its not going to make me stop using the car so has anyone got any advise to help me in the decision? will i notice much differance? Phil

Re: To Quick rack or standard
You will most definitely notice the difference Phil . I've had a quick rack since 2001 with a smallish steering wheel and until last year it was a doddle . Then not physically working in the landscaping since retirement , steering it into high speed corners became VERY hard and even painful. I chose to increase the leverage rather than dump the quickrack , so simply fitted a 25mm larger diameter steering wheel --------- and next time at Goodwood it was a doddle again without losing the faster reaction for handling in corners. A good cheap result
I just love the Stylus but she keeps swallowing £££ !

I have my old standard rack in the garage from when I fitted the quick rack... you're welcome to borrow it & see before you part with any cash.
Personally I'd never go back - the quick rack is in my top 3 of the best mods I've done to the car (& has prevented a few off tarmac excursions).

Re: To Quick rack or standard
Put a yellow tape or some mark on the top centre of your steering wheel --- turn it fully LEFT , note the ' mark ' position then turn fully RIGHT and count the complete turns . Standard is 3.8 I seem to remember and quick racks are 2.2 , 2.4 or 2.5 turns lock to lock . Burton or Rally Design do them for around £100 .

Re: To Quick rack or standard
Which to choose depends how big your muscles are . The 2.2 will be very hard work unless on loose surface and I use a 2.4 . The trackrods will come with the rack but won't make any difference on width unless you alter the track like I've done then you'd need extentions which just screw on.

Re: To Quick rack or standard
thanks rob just got to find one close to me, as im the kind of person who likes to look at something before i buy it problem is there is not many motorsport supliers i know of in somerset so may have to travel i also understand that some top spec fords eg rs and gt's have quick racks in them so may find one at an owners club.
thanks again
