I've taken the?

Post by Cerberus »

Plunge and posted a deposit off for this little baby, http://www.clubstylus.be/templates/b300 ... rberus.jpg should pick it up in a week or two, i've also just picked up a 180bhp vauxhall lump with weber alpha throttle bodies and ECU etc, so i might drop that straight in and see what happens.

Hi Kev, yes its ready, MOTed it just needs rent then its totally driveable, engine is ahem 1.8 opel manta running twin 40's terribly slow hence the purchase of the vauxhall lump(will bolt straight in), so i now have a week or two sleepless nights til i pick it up. 8)

Hi Rob, i know what you mean already sourcing ally hubs wilwoods etc to take weight out of it, spoke to nathan and he has taken as much weight out of the body work as he can so the rest should be quite easy  .

Damn that looks fine. Let me know your details and stuff so I can put you up on the website.

I also put the picture on the server and changed it in your post so it doesn't link to the advert popup website image hosting thingy (or whatever).

My progress so far is the start of stripping the engine. Found out i miss some deep sockets and big torx bits so I'm already stuck :(

torx

Yes Werner , that's exactly where I came to a halt on my first engine(now Matt's)so had to go and buy a set in socket form -- never needed them since building the second , all new engine in 2000 .

Engine

Post by Cerberus »

Picked up my engine today, 2.0l VX ecotec would have preferd a red top but this came with a lovely weber alpha gold kit, 45mm throttle bodies and different cams, rolling road report says 185bhp 164 ft/lbs, so not only will it drop on to the manta box it will have twice the power of the old engine, i have spoken to weber and they said i can use these TB's on a duratec just needs a remap and inlet manifold, so i am a happy chappie at the moment.

Yes they did, £300 including manifold which i thought was reasonable, when you consider a new set of TB's is knocking on for 2K :(
