high level brake light

Post by Ned »

"Well how am i surposed to to your braking when i cant see your lights in your little car" said the driver that had to swerve around me coming off the M27 "Dont drive so close" was my reply as the lights changed and the little car was gone!!
So could i fit a rain light to the roll bar and wire it to the brake circuit and have a very good high level brake light or should i get a Led strip type lamp?

That's one of the problems youget driving a kit car . They're almost invisible to other drivers partly due to how low they are butmainly that they accellerate so quickly so seem to come from nowhere from their point ofview. Best thing is to at least double the distance between you and other cars ----- lengthwise and widthwise then paint it a loud colour.
I just love the Stylus but she keeps swallowing £££ !

I have an LED strip from a kit show that I'll be fitting to the roll bar when I eventually get round to it.

Something like: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Red-12V-30cm-Flex ... 5195e304ed

Although I paid a fair bit more than that.

If you want something that looks like a rain light try Maplins. They do a 52mm red led cluster that looks like the rain light in one of the motorsport suppliers catalogues. But its a lot cheaper.

They also do a 26mm two colour one that I think can be used for a shift/warning light. (I must get round to getting one)

Not as daft as it sounds, here every road car has to run a high brake light, by law, and my race series have introduced a requirment for a rain light 1 meter of the ground speciffically because people could not see the lights on my Sylva because they were in the spray.
The colour flashing 'rain type' lights are 2.50poun each if you buy them in Asia, so somthing to buy for the car on your next beach holiday to Thailand.
