Went camping in the Peaks this weekend - about 150 miles north of where we live so a great opportunity to give her a proper run and a play on the fantastic roads up there (also with the luxury of a friend's Disco to carry the gear!)
So what's to report?
Friday evening was hilariously wet, but the worst bit was being stuck at 40mph through the roadworks near Milton Keynes. It's not too bad once you can get some speed up again. Motorway spray does end up on the inside of the screen though which is irritating.
Rest of the weekend was largely sunny. Took a drive down Snake Pass which was excellent. She behaved pretty well, averaging nearly 40mpg over the weekend. Smells quite rich, but there's a misfire on gentle part throttle just above 2000rpm so it could be that. Google reckons this is pretty common in zetecs so new plugs/leads/coilpacks is the first thing to try I guess.
All in all, fab weekend.

Re: Peak District shakedown
Nice to have a roadgoing Stylus for swanning around in I know what rain and spray is like in an open top Stylus . When mine was roadgoing I got caught in torrentail rain while in a six mile first gear snarl up , coming back along the M25 from N.Weald. Once I got onto the A41 shifting at over 60mph it was fine ---- when back home my feet were in an inch of water , seats absolutely saturated and me wet to my skin . Amazingly the electrics were fine even though rain coming from behind was driving straight into the rear windscreen/dashtop area , running through the dash onto my legs
I just love the Stylus but she keeps swallowing £££ !

Re: Peak District shakedown
I was out in the peaks most of Saturday running the engine in and again on Sunday. Clocked up another 250 miles. Nice and free now. I am lucky enough to live right on the doorstep to the peaks though
I've been caught in a few showers and the rain does get onto the inside of the screen. I also find because I'm quite tall it comes over the screen and hits me in the face. I got caught in a hail storm a few months ago, that hurts alot!

The driver's seat's quite high as it's on runners for adjustment - was just getting some rain in the forehead and that was bad enough. Don't think I could survive hail!
