for some reason i took my car to one of those places called a garage and it came out with a piece of green paper,
YES ITS ONLY GONE AND PASSED ITS MOT! I THOUGHT THE DAY WOULD NEVER COME.
WHOOP WHOOP!
But it wasnt an easy journey as i broke down twice only to realise whilst at work that the tank vacuums quite badly when low. remembering in the depths of time when i last drove it was a struggle but it did it to me then, what a bugger. but hey i have the means to start competing now, even though im a season later than i wanted to be.
how exciting!
hummmm i may have only gone and done it?!!!

So what got it going again then --- ? I'll take a guess at '' there was no airway in the fuel cap '' . I took the key portion out then drilled a 2mm hole through the depression under the key flap in mine . None of the aero caps had breathers ---- can't understand why ?
I just love the Stylus but she keeps swallowing £££ !

I forgot to say ' terrific and well done ' . There are still places left for entry into the first sprint at RAF Odiham for very many years .stylussprinter wrote:So what got it going again then --- ? Re: hummmm i may have only gone and done it?!!!
i have the entry forms for charmouth hill climb 'manor farm' im going to enter that, but i will have a look too at that one,
ive just run it witht the cap off at the mo but i will try what you did i think,
i have put the old carb back on too cos the fortys were being badly behaved ive decided to iron out all the creases with the original then i know that when i get to a point were the car is running well, i will swap back and get a specialist to set them up.
i still have a few things wrong with it ie fuel cap, i also have what i call low oil pressure but i cant decide whether its the gauge or the sender or the oil or the temp the engine was getting to with the fortys on it. the ford manual said it was surpposed to run at btween 2.5 bar and 3.8 bar normal conditions but mine is saying 4 bar at cold and then drops to 1.5 at around 90 degrees when im just crusing at 2000rpm its still at on just under 2 bar and raises a little when accelerating flat out i have a high flow pump on the car and have tried the old pump back on it and im still getting the same reading its weird
all i can say is i only had an oil light before so if i only still had that i probably wouldnt be worrying.
ive also got to calibrate the speedo. but thats a minor issue im just glad i can use it.

Stick 250ml of ZX1 Extralube in the oil , that'll save a catstrophy at high rev's or surge . Read it up on google , I use it in every liquid on the car since 2001 and still have the same shells in. If it's a crossflow are you using Millers appropriate oil ?

Re: hummmm i may have only gone and done it?!!!
im just running a 10/ 40 semi synthetic cos the cross flow suffers from sludging. and needs a high detergent content to prevent this,
is millers oil mineral based or do they do all sorts of types

With Millers the best thing to do is phone them , they are very used to making oils for every situation so if you describe your engine type and spec / oil pressure etc they'll advise which of their oils is ideal .
Is your crossflow standard or been worked The guy I spoke to asked what spec ' etc and what use it would get --- road & or competition % It's probably the best oil you can get for your crossflow
