Some background: I've got some Protechs on my RT which Rob kindly took a quick look at a while back when I bought the car. He explained that they have a dial with 13 adjustment points and a grub screw which sets the 13 points into the hard, medium or soft settings. It appeared that the shocks had been put on the car in the factory setting of halfway up the adjustment range and Rob reckoned for the road they wanted to be 1/4 of the way up on the front and 1/3 of the way up on the back. We did what we could with the fronts on his driveway and with them set at the 1/3 mark the car was already riding much more smoothly.
So I finally got around to looking at the rears while I had the car jacked up today but the dials are at the bottom where they've been covered in 5 years worth of crud since the car was built and they don't want to budge despite a liberal application of lubricant (in fairness, I only had regular oil and teflon spray handy, no penetrating oil). They're only plastic so I reckon mole grips would quickly ruin them. Anyone had to free some off before and have any hints or tips?

Re: Shock adjustment - seized dial
Had the same problem. Ended replacing the dampers. I had penetrating oil - couldn't budge them.
Used waxoil on the replacements 6-7yrs ago and they still move freely.
