This may seem obvious to most but just thought it worth a 'post' . I used to compete every other weekend and some weekends twice and have always been surprised to see some guys cars with broken UJ's spoiling their day . Very common in the 750 club Kit and RGB series. So far it's not happened to me but possibly due to me greasing the prop' and front rockers before each event --- not much , just a pump or two to see it's not dry .
Now I'm not a regular competitor I've got a bit ' slack ' on the greasing so today checked them out with two or three pumps -- all was ok but I hadn't done it since my April event and since then it's done Goodwood in June plus 49 hard miles around Mallory
Most of you do more miles than my competition Stylus -- so when did you last grease just 4 nipples Two UJ's plus the rockers
If a prop comes loose at the gearbox end , you'll get launched skywards or maybe break your left leg

Re: Propshafts
Just in the process of sourcing a prop. So far best quote is from Dunning & Fairbank (D&F propshafts). Anyone dealt with them before? Still waiting for 2 more replies.

Re: Propshafts
Snapping the UJ may not be too bad Rob, my car has snapped a few and has extra steel bars in the tranmission tunnel to 'hold' the shaft in the tunnel if it breaks, so I dont get hurt. So we check the UJ's every 10 laps, torrque up the bolts etc, and put in bigget ones, all OK, but two weeks ago it found the next weekest link and trasshed the crown wheel an pinion, Luccky i had a new one in the garage I bought as a spare on ebay for 8 pound 5 year ago), but changing a dameged UJ would have been easier.

Re: Propshafts
Another reason your Phoenix is so much heavier than Jeff W 's , along with the Atlas and Charge cooler ??? Very few people have your power Kelvin --- mostly any props parting company with the uj's have been on track in the Kit racing series where power is limited to half yours and the particular Kit racer I saw on the ' day ' had jet black oil around the diff and box also very dry looking uj's . I think it's something most over look because it's not seen at a glance like the engine bay etc .
A prop coming off at the box end on standard chassis would/could launch the car skywards

Re: Propshafts
I've had two made by BM without any issues - they are only about 10 miles down the road from me which is an advantage, but nice quality props.MattD wrote:Mine was done by Bailey Morris, good quality kit.
