If there is a chance to photo the front bit that attaches to the windscreen if you get chance that would be great.

Hi I havn't been here for a while - and just noticed this thread

I've had my car since 1997 which gives a little perspective.
Back then, I had to get my hood altered so I actually visited the hood maker, but I had been wracking my brain for about two days trying to think who & where when it suddenly came to me!

Suffolk Trimmers - and they are still around!
(Alot of boat stuff but they still do mention car hoods on their website)

I have a hood and frame but no front cross beam going if your intersted as i had the original roll bar raised and had a new hood just made. Phil

I know this is an ancient thread, but with this weather I'm trawling to look for a hood, a design or a contact. I've had no luck getting hold of softbitsforsevens, or any of the others listed in various threads.
(That bit took ages as apparently 'hood' is a too common word to search!? Aargh)

If you or anyone can help, please let me know. The 'old' girl is just through SVA and DVLA shenanigans after 9 years build time and is now on the road, on a Q-plate, but cant have everything.

Will repost in a new thread if easier, but some sort of sticky post for various common problems would be useful on the forum.

p.s. Does anyone know what Tim is doing these days, or is the whole SSC piece in cold storage indefinitely?
If we were meant to walk we would not have invented the car. ;o))

Tim is going abroad quite a lot with the ''John Lloyd'' rally team plus he's got his build/improve/refurbish business and gets regular work in and around Wales. No plans to restart SSC BUT still owns the rights etc. At the moment he's restoring his own Stylus RT that's been stood for several years now --- so hopes to get it on track at some point in 2012 :wink:

Hardtop is a nice idea, however apart from the practicality aspect, I seem to recall a comment from quite a few years back about the wing effect that this may create. Obvious answer is to balance with a rear wing, but not sure what the effect would be on the front?

Anyone friendly with a university wind tunnel??

Although a semi-top would look pretty cool. (permanent from the roll bar back and a lift-out top that could store in the boot?)

I remember the thread; one of the final points raised that I agree with is that the shape is likely to be very similar to the soft-top roof, as such the lift experienced will also be similar.

Based on the size of the boot, the T-bar option is the only way you would have a workable solution, unless you could fit the panel between the roof and the roll bar. I'm working on a similar idea, but just the panel that runs from the top of the windscreen to roll bar, similar to the splash hoods you see on 7's but out of fibreglass or carbon rather than fabric.
