I'd wager the difference between carbon and glass is going to be pretty minimal in this application as it'll be a fairly wet mix and resin's pretty heavy stuff. If you really want to go light then it's got to be a foam sandwich rather than a solid lay-up. Could probably be down to a few kilos minus the window glass...

Has anyone got near ordering the full hardtop? Any ideas on the shipping of it or is he arranging it for you?

Still toying with the idea of one, but also toying with the idea of a Zetec upgrade too.....hmmm need to win the lottery

Not me - I'll go for just a hood rail in the short term. The hard top's pretty bulky but ought to go on a standard pallet worst case? Might be worth trying some quotes on Shiply? Might get lucky with a courier who's got some space in their van on a trip they're already making... 8)

You'll be seeing Ned's zetec Stylus on the stand probably , on the 19th August and he intends selling that for a reasonable price
I just love the Stylus but she keeps swallowing £££ !

Hood rail arrived from Ivan at Fibretech today - looks good I reckon.

Here are a couple of somewhat fuzzy photos. I'll try it on the car when it's less dark and wet out!

Be interested to see how that fits. I cant work it out from the pics but then again I've never seen one fitted to a Stylus.

If it helps, in the first pic it's upside down showing the moulding on the bottom which is supposed to locate into the groove on the screen surround. Picture 2 is from the rear, right way up.

If anyone is still in interested in hard tops, I've got a request in with Ivan for price availability, etc.

I've spoken to him in the past and made it clear that this is not something I'm going to re-make/re-engineer/re-style,
but I am happy to offer them thru SSC channels should anyone want.

Mention of ROPS has got me moving on planning my V6 fully caged t-bar closed car with the rear stays inside.
Am considering bonding it on permanently, but we'll see how that goes
If necessary I'll make a chassis with lowered floor to make it all fit.

Have had a message back that Ivan is still up for it, so any interest out there ??

Still a bit of headroom to be gained inside anyhow...

If it'll clear a taller roll bar then I'll definitely have one next year, this years budget is rapidly being spent ensuring that its competition ready.

It's going to be a squeeze though; my rollbar is already two inches or more taller than a standard one and it aligns with my softtop roof bars, and that bar needs to increase in height by another couple of inches to keep the MSA happy...

Do you have a measurement from the underside of the hardtop to the top of the transmission tunnel where it meets the bulkhead/boot?

Matt will confirm or not but any rollbar that's only level with the windscreen , like that roof is , will not be high enough , unless the driver's a Midget.
They're a road car only roof , unless you modify it yourself ie. cut opening through the roff then seal around it.

Not got the measurement yet Alex, but have asked Ivan for it....
You're both right though, MSA spec ROPS will be taller than the windscreen frame on any previous SSC chassis.
As I said above, if needed I'll lower the seat floor to gain the head space & run the top rops hoop a touch under the hardtop itself... well thats the plan anyway.

No idea but try contacting the new SSC owners , as they already have a fibreglass man ready to sort the existing body moulds .
