Got the trailing and leading arms fitted ok. Came to re-fit the panhard rod but the diff is in the way. So it looks like I have to jack the diff up to get it to fit, but surely this means they will come together whenevery there is an "air" moment on the road or I jack up the back end without jacking up the rear axle and possibly causing the rod damage as the diff puts pressure on it.

Is this right or do I have a problem I didn't know about?

This is as close as I can get it with the rear axle jacked up by about 2 inch.

my panhard bent when bottoming out with 2 fatties in the car whilst going off the track sideways at about 70mph - this left the axle offset considerably! I have now lowered the chassis mount on the rod so that if it bottoms again, the rod stays straight. Well worth doing!

Lots of people never noticed that point but it was a design fault so far as I was concerned. Very early on with my mod's during the last 12 years , I discussed this with Tim Benbow and found that he'd brought this very point to Pete Powell's attention. Tim modified the chassis end mounting on the red demo car from that time around 2004/5 ---- I did the same mod' then Matt saw mine and followed suit .

It's very easy to do. Directly under the long bolt that goes through the passenger seat , weld a 50mm piece of 35 to 40 mm angle iron . Obviously with one flat side to the seat bottom and exactly flush with the seat bottom edge side and rear. That leaves the other flat side pointing down to the ground , which you need to drill a half inch hole through to house a shorter bolt plus very large thick washer , to attach the panhard to .

To make it easier , I drilled a small hole through the other leg of the angle and the seat bottom --- then pop rivet it to the seat pan --- now it's a doddle to weld the angle along all edges. Job done :wink:

But I know what mod you mean. Not sure my welding is up to it though.

I currently have the underslung exhaust so this is not currently possible as the rod would hit the exhaust or at least be very close, soon getting this replaced by side exit when the bloke has some time to fit me in.

So for now I guess I'll have to jack the diff up and fit it as it was before. Then look at this mod once I have a side exit exhaust

Finally got it all back together, with the new lower arms, once I bought some new nuts.

Took it for a short test run and it's a lot smoother and no annoying squeek from the rear anymore. Thanks Rob for the tips on that.

Next stop is a new side exit exhaust, followed by the Panhard modification I think....

Does the spending ever stop???? :)

i did a bit of a guide to fitting a side exit on here somewhere.......... might help you........
