Tim phoned me last night having just finished and home for dinner at 9-30p.m. I'd left messages on your behalf and talked to Helen who was in at 6-00p.m. I gave him a list of all who needed to contact him and for what . He's been keeping these hours for 2 months now and has lapsed on contacting people but was about to do just that after talking with me.

Hope everybody gets a call etc :?: Rob.

Perhaps Tim (or you?) could let us know what he’s up to? I’m sure I’m not alone in being rather worried about the state of things at SSC and it doesn’t help when you don’t know whether it’s because Tim is rushed of his feet with Kit orders, working on customer cars, holding down a day job, working on another project, poorly or just disinterested. I’m sure a quick line to let us know the state of play would reassure everyone.

State of play ?

O.K. , take your point  I've spoken to Tim of all your concerns and over some time have been trying to help him by being discrete but keeping him informed. Firstly , Tim is very interested in SSC and it's products to the point that he's been prepared to pull in his horns in a difficult time to remain SSC's owner. Moving from the large rented workshop to his much smaller family owned one plus taking in house the chassis construction(for fast improvements & better quality/cost)
Complete car sales/kits had slowed over the past year as has the whole '' kit '' industry , even the big boys . He's put great effort into modulising the kit , along with very high component quality . Just read through the module price list. All this , to be ready for the ' turn a round ' because it will come -- everything moves in cycles .(my own business turnover fell 40% over 2005 and 2006 with no connection to Tims industry.)
So you can see his commitment to the STYLUS & RT is TOTAL. To survive while this transition is moving into a better time , he had to be single minded which meant bringing in the extra ' BACON ' via his previous business contacts. Tim's done many things over the years , in motorsport and work but the most recent was Professional Painting & Decorating . This has been filling the void whilst still developing the breed. One of the problems he's had , has been that the very large project he was working on , is way out in the sticks with ' crap ' mobile reception , then knack ---- d at 9-30p.m. before getting home. This doesn't help ' us ' of course but it does go some way in explaining the lack of returning SSC calls/messages/emails  hence my involvement , purely to smooth the way .(being a one man band myself and having a rough financial time lately rung bells with me  )
SO ---------- yes , he does want the business , as someone asked but is finding it difficult right now .
Don't doubt his commitment to SSC though , he really loves that 'little orange car' and it's potential ----------- his words to me :D

I hope that's not too much information from Tim's point of view BUT having talked with him last night and 'jogged' by you today , thought I'd clear the air. :)

Rob.(hope this does no harm :? )

No harm at all from my side, having run my own business i know what a total ball ache it can be especially when it goes quiet. And this is just my opinion, if we went straight to Tim for bits rather than finding places that undercut him(i know money is an issue) then perhaps he could spend more time answering the phone, but i personally would rather pay an extra few quid just for the peace of mind that Tim and stylus will still be here in years to come and the fact you can keep your car running and still get spares and advice from the man who knows.

I hope he can keep the company going but is really that hard to put a message on the answer phone which is the first point of contact to anyone who may want to buy a car or parts. Let people know you will call back at a time possibly during the weekend. Not contacting anyone isn't the best policy.

i really hope that Tim doesnt go under. he has put a lot of hard work into SSC from my point of view and would be a shame to see it go.
We always get our bits from Tim if he has them, as most of the time its cheaper from him than the suppliers!
we have ordered our shell with him now, so he has some more buisness from us again and much more to come!

Rob

Thanks for the update and appreciate that running a business through dry spells is difficult. The trouble is if potential customers aren't contacted quickly enough they go else where, even if they want to give their business to SSC, and it makes the dry spell worse.

Hope business picks up for Tim and he is able to balance the two work streams.

Thanks for the response, as I hope this tread shows people are prepared to wait and “keep the faith” but only so long as there are signs of life - when there is no contact people tend to fear the worst and look else where.
