George , I should have but in sorting out Camoradi's set it became clear that Tim's sold me a set of clear lenses that are both passenger sides
I've contacted him to see if it's an error and he's still got their '' mates '' but no reply as yet  I'll let you know if the drivers side ones appear ok --- otherwise I'm stuck with half two pairs of clear :x

Rob, I'll bear that in mind if I'm ever about to crash. I'll try and keep the driver's side undamaged

Many thanks for your hospitality on Sunday, and the lens covers too.

Hi Rob

Have you had any reply from Tom yet about the light covers?

Ps your repairs are looking good and should not be to long by the looks of it.

No reply probably means he's not got the ' mates ' to go with them  He doesn't often get back to me the same week or whatever , so I'm probably stuck with them :x Certainly let you know if I get them though :) He's either replaced a couple of drivers side lenses and been left with these or his supplier's messed him up too :?:

Re: Lens covers

Post by alecmartin19 »

after recently having a slight mishap in my car and cracking the lens cover on the drivers side, and rob not having any left, i have tried to find a way around the problem. after speaking to a guy at work today, he told me of a friend of his that does plastic vacuum forming for a living. i gave him a call and explained the situation and it turns out he has made quite a few things for different kit cars in the past and is keen on doing smaller jobs. he said that if i get both of my light covers to him, he will make a former of them both and then make me a new cover.

he also said that he will keep the formers so that he can produce more. i have not been given a price yet for them but from the conversation we had, it looks like they may be considerably cheaper than the original parts. not sure about clear or smoked yet but i will keep people informed.

is anybody on here interested in a set for a build or to keep as spares that may want to get done at the same time as me? i guess the more we order to begin with, the cheaper they will be for everyone. i won't order until i know a definate price and you confirm you want them but if i give him a rough number and he can give me a lead time and a price that might get the ball rolling.

when he's made the first batch , i will put his number on here and people can deal with him direct if he wishes.

thanks for your replys so far. i'm not sure about the tint yet. i want tinted ones for mine too so i'm going to try getting tinted ones. i am taking my covers to him on saturday so that he can make the pattern. i'll have a chat with him then and see what he can do for us and hopefully soon after that he will get back to us with a reasonable price.

any more takers?

well i have given my lens covers to the guy who is going to make the new ones. he will now set about making the former and working out how much each set will cost to produce.

i will put the price on here as soon as i know what it will be and also whether tinted ones are available. I hope they are as i want tinted ones.

so the list so far is:

MattD tinted
hearbear tinted
stylussprinter tinted but still have clear if not
Antnicuk ? if they are less that £50

Any more?
