I just bolted the ali over the top as a bit more heat and fire protection as turbo rotary engines give off lots of heat and the exhaust runs in front of it. Beingn bolted it doesnt seem to have any issues with expansion.
Keep up the good work, what do you have planned next?
I have loads left to do still,
I have brought a replacement engine which im rebuilding at the moment, Need to find somebody who can modify the sump aswell.
I have ground off the old engine mounts as therer crap & in the wrong place, so need 2 mke some new mounts too,
My first bit of welding- welding then smoothing off all the old rivet holes
upside down stylus! moreee prep work on the chassis!
Removed all paint from chassis! what a releif that jobs over!!
Masked up ready for first coat of corrosion protection paint!
After first coat of paint!

Rear end, As you can see I cut the cross member which goes across the back to give me more boot space & triangulated the legs to put all the strength back in :D Once I tacked them into place Peter from 'Welders Inc' poped over & welded them in properly to so there nice & strong :D
Decided to remove the reverse & fog lights from the rear, Started by 'thinning' around the holes which were to be filled untill they were around a mil thick then taped over them from the outside
Nice & thin so i dont get a crack where they have been filled, smeered a touch of grease on the tape to stop it sticking to the fibreglas
After a few layers of fibreglass
Another shot
Remove tape & this is the finished article- simple but very strong, ready for a skim of filler :-)
Next on the agenda was to make use of this wasted space inside the drivers cill
Surface keyed up awaiting fibreglass
Getting the matting ready
Then cut a peice of 10mm ply to size & bonded it to the cill then glassed over it aswell to seal it. This gives me something nice & strong to screw into for the hatch door :-)
What a very thorough job Ross You may have had a fault filled Stylus to work from but you really are going through every detail and sorting as you go ---- very nice to see Tim/ssc would be pleased to see how thorough you're being about a car that ' bugged ' him over what it needed but many skated around
Nice to chat with you yesterday at Matt's event at Aldershot and didn't he do well
I just love the Stylus but she keeps swallowing £££ ! Alfa Red 159 2.4 jtdm ti 260bhp 365lbft / BilsteinB12 + Adjustable Powerflex camber/castor bushes. Red STYLUS 2lt zetec 231bhp 185lbft Dunnell . RED 1972 Alfa 2lt GTAm replica 170bhp.
Wow, I'm impressed. I've stripped the powder coating off the chassis in small areas at a time, it takes ages. You've spent masses of time on that. How did you flip the thing on it's back?
Mike

Its alot of work but will be worth it in the end! I got another couple of coats of paint on the chassis monday evening which came out really well
Yeh was nice to see a Stylus screaming round Matt dont really well, The Lotus Exige was going round about 10 seconds a lap slower than Matt which is awesome, I got a few pics which I will upload when I get a minute.
